Story
This adventurous pup has a zest for life that knows no bounds. Whether exploring the great outdoors on his daily walks or indulging in his favorite snacks, Beethoven's enthusiasm is infectious. His love for treats is matched only by his love for human companionship, and he thrives on the attention and affection of his devoted friends. One of Beethoven's endearing quirks is his blissful ignorance of his own size. Though he may tower over some of his canine counterparts, Beethoven sees himself as a lap dog at heart, eager to snuggle up with anyone willing to share a cozy spot.Unfortunately, Beethoven came to the Forsyth County Pet Resource Center heartworm positive, but the good news is that we will provide the necessary treatment for him at no additional cost to you! While Beethoven is undergoing heartworm treatment, he will be placed in our Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) program so that you can start bonding with your new pet and give him a calm place to get better! Heartworm treatment is very safe, and the success rate is high, the Pet Resource Center prefers dogs like Beethoven to recover in a home with an adopter rather than in a shelter. If you want to learn more about Beethoven and how the FTA process works, please stop by or call us at 678-965-7185!

Story
Meet Barklee No one knows how long I was on my own, but it was enough to lose over twenty percent of my body weight. After being in the shelter for weeks, barely gaining weight, time was not on my side. But thankfully, Hero was able to rescue me! I’m around 1 year old, so I’m still basically a puppy—a big puppy that had a lot of learning to do! But, my fosters will vouch for me that I’m a VERY quick learner. I picked up the basics pretty fast. I know how to sit and I’m potty trained. I will stand at the door when I need to “go,” plus, I know what “leave it” and “inside” mean. When my fosters need to leave the house for an extended time, I will happily rest in my crate as long as my favorite bone is there to keep me occupied. One thing I’m still working on is not getting too excited at feeding time or when my fosters come home. I just get so happy that I can’t contain myself. My fosters are certain that I’ll master the art of self control with time. But because I am such a big boy, this could be a lot for families with small children. With the right introduction and a little time, I will get along with other dogs. I really love to run and play with my fosters’ two dogs! Although I’m bigger than both of them, I know my place. One of them is definitely the boss when we play with toys or if we’re just playing outside. And, I’m okay with that! I also really love getting attention from my fosters! Whether it’s a back scratch or a hug, I just want to be loved. But sometimes I forget that I’m not the only dog and I bump the others out of the way. I’m working on that as well! Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
