Howie. The most real, smart, easy dog of 2025. An absolute asset to any home. He is dog, cat, kid, bird, farm, everything friendly. He is still gaining weight and will be a solid 110lb mastiff. Howise is gentle, easy, 100 percent kennel and house trained and is the same dog every minute of every day. Howie is going to be hard to let go. He will greet you every minute with towels of drool, but it's really love we have learned. Howie would love a family of his own that he can love and care for. Need a shop dog to greet everyone? This is your guy. Need a friend to walk with? He has your back. Howie is one you have to meet and it will all make sense. Sabine is a new BEAUTY at the shelter! Stay tuned for more info on this precious gal! Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.   Chloe is a 2&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old spayed Anatolian Shepherd Mix with a heart as big as her 85&#226&#128&#145pound frame! This sweet girl is slowly coming out of her shell and showing off her silly, playful personality. She loves her people and will happily follow you around the house, always wanting to be part of the action. Chloe is equal parts affectionate and goofy — she’ll make you laugh with her awkward zoomies and melt your heart when she leans in for cuddles. She does bark and whine to communicate, so she’s best suited for a family who can be patient as she continues to build her confidence. Chloe is still learning how to walk nicely on a leash and will need some guidance with basic manners. She’s also not a fan of being crated, so a home where she can have a safe space outside of a crate would be ideal. Because of her size and clumsy play style, Chloe needs a home without small children. She’ll thrive with adults or older kids who understand big, enthusiastic dogs. With love, patience, and a little training, Chloe will reward her new family with endless loyalty and goofy joy. Hi, I’m Scoobert! (Yes, like Scooby… but fancier.) I’m a 10-to-11-month-old Mastiff mix, currently weighing about 55 pounds of pure joy. Seriously — I’m just a big ol’ bouncy ball of happiness with a tail that never stops wagging. One of the amazing Wags volunteers met me up north at a shelter and said, “That’s the one!” Why? Because I was so friendly, so wiggly, and so excited to meet everyone — dogs, people, probably squirrels (still pending testing). She said I radiated joy. (Her words, not mine… but I agree!) I love to play with other dogs, and I’ve been around respectful kiddos too — I did great! I’m still a puppy at heart and in age, so I’ll need a home ready to help me learn things like potty training, leash manners, and that jumping up for kisses might not always be appreciated (even if I think it should be). But if you’re looking for a sweet, goofy, lovable companion who’s always down for playtime, snuggles, and good vibes — I’m your guy. Let’s make this official.
