Story
Hi, I'm Sheldon and Im ready to find my forever home
Name: Sheldon
Breed: Bullmastiff
Age: 2 years
Pet Location: Indianapolis, IN
Here’s a polished version for Sheldon that stays honest about his needs while making him sound lovable and adoptable:
Meet Sheldon
Sheldon is deaf, but don’t let that fool you — he’s incredibly smart and already learning a variety of hand signals, including “sit,” “stay,” “yes,” “no,” and even “get out” when it’s time to leave the kitchen. He thrives on consistency, routine, and being close to his people. In true Bullmastiff fashion, Sheldon wants to be wherever you are — whether that’s curled up at your feet, lounging on the deck with a bone, or waiting patiently for one of his favorite moments of the day: mealtime.
Sheldon is potty trained, crate trained, rides well in the car, and does a great job alerting at the door when he needs to go outside. While leash walking is still a work in progress, he’s improving every day and enjoys getting out with his harness.
We want to be transparent that Sheldon will need an adopter willing to put in the extra effort that comes with owning a deaf dog. Communication, patience, and consistency are incredibly important for him to continue succeeding. He would do best with someone experienced with Bullmastiffs or giant breeds who understands calm leadership and the importance of structure.
At this time, Sheldon would likely do best as the only dog or with very slow, careful introductions to other dogs. His interactions with cats are still being evaluated, though he currently seems uninterested when seeing them outside. A fenced yard would be ideal for him to safely stretch his legs and relax, though he also enjoys leash walks and time spent outdoors with his people.
Despite his size, Sheldon is truly a soft-hearted companion who just wants connection and stability. He may require a little extra understanding, but the reward is a deeply loyal dog who will happily make himself part of your everyday life — and probably your personal space, too.
If you’re looking for a devoted companion and are willing to embrace Sheldon’s unique needs, this handsome boy may be the perfect addition to your family.
