Story
Despite the old saying, sometimes good things do come in BIG packages! That’s certainly the case with Method Man, as this gorgeous guy tops the scale at 112 lbs. If you’d prefer to play in the yard, MM would be happy to oblige, as he’s a pretty laid back guy. But as long as you let him carry a stick, he’ll trot by your side when you go for walks. (Perhaps he thinks the stick is a cool accessory, meant to impress other dogs?) When it’s hot outside, Method loves nothing better than a nice nap on a cool floor, but he prefers to snuggle with a blanket when the weather turns cold. This adorably wrinkled guy is very smart and already knows his commands, and his motto should be ”will work for hot dogs!” Since his owner had to surrender him due to housing issues, Method Man has been very anxious to find his forever home. He prefers to share a home with just his human companions, and will make a wonderful addition to the right family. MM loves playing with stuffed toys, and will entertain his new family with an occasional case of the zoomies. If you decide to share your life and your home with this lovely pup, you’ll be rewarded with loving looks from his very soulful eyes. Adoption by appointment only withan approved application. Story
I purchased Papi when he was 6 weeks old. Papi is a loyal 4 year old seeking a structured, low-pressure home. He lives in Burlington, NJ. He is up-to-date on vaccinations, is neutered and microchipped. He is on a monthly flea/tick preventative schedule. He is house trained and knows basic commands such as "sit, wait, come, paw." He is a fan of the quiet life, enjoys walks, lounging in the sun and sniffing the grass. While he enjoys affection, he does best with calm guidance. The ideal home is a quiet household (preferably no small children). He is sweet and playful and thrives in a steady, boring, happy home. He does well with people and he is social. He has stayed at kennels with other dogs while I'm on vacation. Historically, he has done well with children and allowed petting and gentle hugs. He does well being home alone for extended periods and he has never been destructive. He settles and sleeps while I'm away. I am a senior with limited current physical support.

Story
Power was deeply loved and well cared for by his owner, Quame Johnson who raised him with intention, protection, and affection. Sadly, Quame passed away due to chronic liver failure, and through no fault of his own, Power now needs to be rehomed. Power is a loyal, loving dog who bonds closely with his people. He is naturally protective and can be overzealous in unfamiliar situations, especially around strangers, which is why a home with prior bully-breed experience is strongly preferred. With structure, consistency, and understanding, Power thrives and shows his affectionate, devoted nature. Our goal is to place Power in a stable, loving home that can continue the care, protection, and respect he has always known.

Make A Difference in your Community - Adopt a Shelter Dog! Would you like to foster a Shelter Survivor? For more information, visit us at www.sheltersurvivors.com THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING – Twix is not in one of our foster homes and we have not met him, we are assisting his owners with finding him a new home. Here are fun facts his owner wants you to know: - Twix / 3yo / Male/ Neutered / 65 lbs / In great health - Mastiff/Herding mix - Up to date on vax since 8/25/25 - Will do best with experienced, active dog owners who would be able to be consistent with good daily habits to strengthen his foundational training. No other animals, no small children in the house. - Has had multiple professional training experiences, all successful. Quick improvements in training sessions. He is passionate about learning. - Housetrained and very communicative about needing the bathroom. Will whine/grumble, give paw or look at door. - He is crate trained and loves his crate. He will crate himself to take naps throughout the day and also will tuck himself to bed when the sun goes down and sleeps through the night. - Not destructive in the home at all, even when left alone. No separation anxiety. - Walks nice on leash! Big sniffer. Knows heel. - Energy level is average/medium. Will match your energy to be very active or a couch potato. Greets with excitement for just a few minutes. - Shines with his family/pack and loves physical and verbal affection. - Total silly playful goofball and sweetie pie who just wants to love. - Loves long walks (hiking and camping), swimming, tug and fetch. - Nervous when not introduced to new dogs and new people but eased with structured introduction or pack walk. 100% success rate when introduced to new people. Selectively reactive with intact males. - No cats is best. He is ok with cats if the cat leaves the dog alone. He lived 2 years with a male cat and they kept to themselves and lived peacefully. - Not socialized around kids. Unknown. - Resource guards around main meals and high value treats, but not with training treats. Very easy to train (food motivated). Does not protect empty bowl. - One bite due to mishandling by his previous owner. The dog was nervous around a stranger and the previous owner did not intro or deescalate then dropped leash. After a professional reactivity evaluation, a trainer assessed him to be safe and not serious about bites. - Previous owner got him as a puppy from a friend’s litter. Story
Make a Difference! Adopt a Shelter Dog! This handsome hunk is Max, a 100-pound gentle giant with a heart just as big as his paws. Max found himself in a Queens, NY shelter when he simply outgrew apartment life—but he’s thriving now in his foster home and ready for a forever family of his own. Max is doing wonderfully with his foster siblings (three mixed-breed dogs) and would love a home with another playful dog to keep him company. He really shines in dog-to-dog friendships and enjoys good, old-fashioned rowdy play—especially with his biggest foster sibling, a shepherd/husky mix. When it comes to people, Max is a bit of a shy guy at first. We don’t think he had much exposure to new people in his past, so he can be nervous when visitors arrive. He has no signs of aggression whatsoever, he’s just fearful and may try to hide behind his foster mom (which is both endearing and slightly comical given his size). Slow introductions, patience, and plenty of treats are the key to his heart. Once Max feels safe, his true personality comes out: gentle, happy, and incredibly sweet. He should never be forced to greet—he’ll let you know when he’s ready. Max is still very much a big puppy and will need plenty of toys, bones, and enrichment to keep him busy. He loves fetching tennis balls and can catch them mid-air like a pro, even from impressive distances. Squeaky toys and plush toys are also high on his favorites list. He enjoys going for walks, though he’ll benefit from some leash training to curb his enthusiasm (he’s strong and doesn’t quite know it yet). He definitely needs regular exercise to burn off puppy energy. At just one year old, Max still has some growing to do, and filling out! He’s currently a bit underweight and in that adorably awkward, gangly stage, but once mature he’ll be a very large, powerful dog. His former family did an excellent job house-training him; he hasn’t had a single accident in foster care. He knows “sit” and “paw,” takes treats gently, and has proven he can be trusted uncrated while his foster family is out. With his foster mom, Max is snuggly, affectionate, goofy, loyal, and incredibly loving. He actually thinks he is a lap dog. He has ultra-soft fur, beautiful soulful eyes, and once you earn his trust, you’ll have a friend for life. Max is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccinations. His ideal new home would have another dog (or dogs), no small children who could be accidentally knocked over, and a family experienced with large-breed dogs who understands that sometimes the biggest dogs have the softest hearts. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will grow into an amazing lifelong friend, Max might just be your perfect match 🐾 To adopt Max, please complete our online dog application at https://www.sheltersurvivors.com/application.html and return it to sheltersurvivors@live.com.
