Hey there, I'm Rhett!  I was surrendered due to food aggression but I've been a good boy and haven't shown any signs of resource guarding at PDA. I am a sweet boy who gets along well with everyone, including other dogs. I haven't met a cat yet but I think they might make me nervous. Even though I haven't shown any resource guarding, I'd like to keep my relationship with food positive. I'm looking for someone with experience who can navigate resource guarding if needed.  Breed: Bull Mastiff/French Mastiff, approx 95lbs DOB: June 2024

King would do well in an active home with a strong handler. He is a big boy who needs to continue his obedience training. He would do well in a home with a yard so he can run around.Good with other cats? NoGood with dogs? Yes, with a proper/slow introductionGood with children? Yes, but no children under 12 years is recommended due to size and energyTemperament: Friendly, goofy, adventurous.Motivators? TreatsAny commands? Sit, Paw, StayHouse trained? UnknownCrate trained? UnknownHow long will it take to settle into a new environment? 3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? King is a heavy chewer, therefore he can`t be left alone with toys that aren`t durable. It is recommended to keep him away from all human food and too muzzle him while outside so he doesn`t eat anything he shouldn`t.
