Story
Meet Jax — Loyal, Loving, and Looking for His Person Jax is a 6-year-old Chihuahua mix with a big personality in a little body. He’s a classic Chi in all the best ways: loyal, quirky, and completely devoted once he chooses you. He may take time to warm up, but when he does, he becomes your shadow, your sidekick, and your constant companion. Jax is all about comfort and closeness. He loves cuddling and giving kisses,Chew toys and squeaky toys,Chasing and fetching balls,Relaxing beside his person and snoozing in cozy spots or hanging out in an open crate Jax is housetrained and crate trained, but he does have a tiny bladder, so he may need more frequent potty breaks throughout the day. He’ll also use potty pads if you’re gone longer than expected. He is a vocal little guy and does bark, so he wouldn’t be a great match for a home with shared walls. The ideal home for Jax would be one that thrives in a calm, patient, low traffic predictable home environment. His ideal setup would include an adult-only home. Preferably with a woman, as he bonds most quickly and confidently with women. He can be nervous around new people—especially men—but with slow introductions and respectful space, he can absolutely bond with them. He’s already successfully bonded with his foster dad, showing that with time and a non-scary approach, he warms up quickly. His Play Style With Other Pets Jax can enjoy the company of other friendly dogs and cats. He is social with the right dogs, but his play style leans more dominant. He likes to be in control and set the tone of the interaction. He’s not aggressive; he just likes things his way. Because of his small size and tendency to wander, It is recommended that Jax be on a leash or in a securely fenced yard If you’re looking for a deeply loyal dog who wants nothing more than to be someone’s best friend, Jax might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. With the right person, he’ll give endless love, loyalty, and companionship. Jax's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *Bonded to Toto* *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* I just joined my foster family and we are still getting acquainted with one another. Once they learn more about me, they will add more information here! Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Bear is from a local impound.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
