Story
Hi! I'm Charlotte, and I'm currently searching for a dog to adopt me. Humans are... well... acceptable, I suppose, mostly because they seem to be in charge of important things like food, water, comfy beds, and opening doors. But if we're being honest, I'd really prefer a confident canine roommate to show me the ropes. You see, I trust dogs way more than people. They know who's safe, what's worth investigating, and when it's time to relax in a sunny patch of grass. Since no one is a better judge of character than another dog, I'm hoping my future furry sibling can help me learn that the world isn't quite as scary as I think it is. I'm a gentle, sensitive girl who likes to take life at my own pace. New people and new situations can feel overwhelming, so I'll need a family that understands trust isn't something I give away overnight. The good news? Every little bit of progress is a huge victory with me, and earning the trust of a dog like me is one of the most rewarding experiences you can imagine. Watching me become just a little braver each day is truly something special. I'm probably not going to be the tiny lap dog everyone expects—and that's okay! At bedtime, I'd be happiest with a cozy bed right next to my furry sibling's. Maybe one day I'll decide to scoot it a little closer, but for now, just being in the same room is perfect. My perfect home is calm, patient, and understanding. I don't need someone to rush me—I need someone willing to celebrate every tiny step forward and let me blossom on my own timeline. With a trusted dog by my side, a warm sunny spot to nap in, and kind humans who respect my boundaries while cheering me on, I'll keep discovering that the world can be a pretty wonderful place after all. If your dog has been looking for a new best friend... I just might be the one they've been waiting for.

Story
Lacey is a tiny, adorable terrier with a big ability to steal hearts. When she first arrived at the shelter, she was frightened and unsure of the world around her. With kindness and patience from the volunteers, she slowly blossomed into a happy little dog who loved walks, playtime, and spending time with her favorite people. After being adopted, Lacey discovered she loved her person so much that she became overly protective and would nip at visitors. Because of this, she has returned to the shelter, where she's understandably a little scared again. The good news is she's already beginning to warm up to the volunteers and show her sweet personality once more.Lacey is looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will help her continue building confidence and gently teach her that new people aren't something to fear. With love, consistency, and positive guidance, this little girl has so much potential to be a wonderful, devoted companion. If you're willing to give Lacey the time she needs, you'll be rewarded with a loyal friend who will love you with her whole heart.Est. DOB: 3/17/248 lbs.AAR does not transport for adoption.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Zelle, or cash only. donate@yorkierescuehouston.org or, if you prefer: our fundraising platform, Zeffy Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.   This baby was dumped at the shelter as a Euthanasia request by his family.  The dog they loved them for years, needed eye meds and a dental.  He was not neutered either (he is now) Thankfully he was HW negative, but sadly his fecal tested positive for giardia. He lost a BUNCH of teeth in his dental. and is being treated for the intestinal parasite. He's a happy, friendly little guy who wants nothing more than to be loved.  He's a great little dog!!!  Can he come be your baby?  Can you give him the home he deserves?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 25, 2026, 4:58 pm

Story
Meet Glen, a remarkable 8 year old, mixed breed weighing 27 pounds, with a heart as big as Texas. Glen's journey brought him to Camo Rescue's Houston facility in 2021, where he has been a beloved resident ever since. Glen is a dog full of love and energy, always ready for an adventure outdoors. His favorite activities include running around outdoors, splashing in water, and exploring every nook and cranny of his surroundings. He's potty trained and does good with leash walking. While Glen is a loving dog once he warms up to you. He comes with some challenges that require experienced handling. Glen is very kennel aggressive and doesn't appreciate correction. He struggles most during meal times as he resource guards his food. Glen's forever family would need to be understanding and capable of ensuring meal times are as safe and comfortable as possible for everyone involved. Despite these behaviors, Glen is deeply affectionate and fiercely loyal to those he trusts. For Glen to thrive, he would do best in an adult-only home where he can be the only dog, ensuring he receives the focused attention and structured environment he needs. His forever family must provide a secure and loving atmosphere, along with careful management of his behaviors. With patience, understanding, and the right environment, Glen promises to blossom into an extraordinary companion, enriching the lives of his adoptive family with his unwavering devotion and adventurous spirit. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this special boy, Glen is waiting to embark on his next chapter with you. Glen's adoption fee is WAIVED FOR THE RIGHT HOME. ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022
