This cat nearly broke us...emotionally. She has our hearts.
Meet Kaylee, one of our Meadowlands rescue cats (cat #21). The last to bring in from the project. So why is Kaylee last? Kaylee always stayed back...for food, for attention, for any shred of any normalcy that existed...she allowed the others to go first...even being rescued...she chose to be last.
Kaylee suffered alone in silence. Waiting for someone to notice her, waiting for medical care, waiting for relief, that never came...day after day, week after week, year after year. She never cried out. She simply endured. She simply existed.
A little calico cat with patches of orange, black, and white, she drifted through each day unnoticed.
For years, she lived in a house overflowing with cats. In a place where there were too many animals and too little care, it was easy to disappear.
And she did.
A beautiful calico with impossibly big eyes, she learned to make herself invisible. She waited quietly for food. She slept where she could find a space...far away where she could disappear from existence. She asked for nothing because nothing had ever been hers to ask for.
No one noticed her shrinking into the background.
No one noticed the years slipping by.
No one noticed the pain she carried.
In the chaos of a hoarding home, she was simply one more cat.
We are asking for one thing for her...A home... A home full of love. For someone to finally see her. We want nothing more than for Kaylee to be happy. She is still a little uncertain about what just happened, but we want nothing more than to see that tail go up...a spark in her eye, a glimmer of hope. We want her person to see her the way we see her. A very special girl.
If you ever truly wanted to make a difference in the life of an animal, now is your chance. She had a dental, all diseased teeth have been pulled, an ear infection was treated, and she received the best of medical care. Why? Because every cat deserves comfort, healing, and love.
Please really think about giving this special little girl a home. She really needs to feel safe and to become the best version of herself...it's there...we can see it, it is buried but we are seeing each day growth in confidence.
