Story
This is Cody Ann! Cody was my sisters cat and Cody was very very shy she really never knew anyone. My sister just died recently and it was . I only saw CODY I never got to hold her she was just so shy. I have been working with CODY for three months now my sister lived one minute for me and I drive here at least two times a day and I play with them and feed them and clean and all that and she now is like jumping up sit next to me. She is a sweet more fragile cat you would say. She loves to play. I am wanting to rehome her with her sister not by blood and her name is Alaina Marie and she is on the site also. I would like someone nearby so I can still see them from time to time or even cats sit. She is so pretty her tail looks like it was stuck on her white body. She needs a gentle owner. It breaks my heart to have to rehome them I have four animals myself.

Story
Pica is a beautiful girl. She was returned with her cat companion after 5 years. Her adopter was aging and could not care for them. Her companion was adopted and Pica is looking for a good home. She is a portly girl who does like her food. She has been on a slimming program and should be maintained on it. Pica is friendly but is reserved around humans. However, she loves to play with her favorite wand toy. She would do best in either a single cat home or with another quiet cat. No dogs. Contact us at animalrescuecarolina@yahoo.com for more information about this lovely girl.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 24, 2024, 8:22 am

Story
One day I was driving to work and Pinto stumbled across two lanes of traffic into the adjacent grassy median. I scooped her up and took her home and from there she was the most cuddly kitten ever. I have 2 other cats and as pinto has gotten older, it has been a little tough managing all 3 so I am needing to rehome pinto :(

These pups are in Sumter, South Carolina too!

If you are interesting in meeting any of our pets, the process is to complete an application.  It can be downloaded as a pdf document from our website and submitted by email to WindyRidgeRescue@gmail.com  as a scanned document or as photos OR can be completed entirely online. Both links are in the header of our website.   Because we are foster based, we require an approved application to schedule a meet and greet. We feel that is fair to our fosters and rescues so every meet and greet can result in an adoption. A limited number of cats are showcased at Peetco in Sumter, SC weekly.  &#226&#128&#139We do not have set adoption fees for dogs, but hope adopters will donate generously so we can rescue more. The medical care for every dog can easily exceed the adoption donation.  Average adoption fees for dogs in the area range from $175 up to $450. Your generous adoption donations help us continue our programs of providing quality food and medical care to those who pass through our fosters.  We ask for a minimum adoption donation of $70 for cats who are not yet altered and $100 for cats who are already spayed or neutered, regardless of age.  Please bring your own carrier for the ride home!  Each cat is up to date on vaccinations, dewormer, and microchipped.  Larger donations are always welcome so we can rescue more.  Medical care for each cat easily exceeds the minimum donation.   &#226&#128&#139As with every rescue, our resources are limited and the need for rescue help is unlimited. Your generosity helps us to rescue more and funds the only Trap Neuter Return Program in the county.  It's like tossing $100 bills in the woods when we trap a cat, vaccinate and spay or neuter that cat and then return them to the colony. Young kittens are tamed and available for adoption. We are alone doing this in our area. Your increased donation at the time of adoption can help us cover costs for the cat becoming part of your family as well as a feral to prevent more feral litters.  &#226&#128&#139Adopting or fostering for a rescue frees up a space where a new rescue can reside.  &#226&#128&#139If you can't adopt or foster, than please consider donating.  February 21, 2024, 2:42 pm

Story
Swiss is a special soul with a heart as radiant as the markings on his fur. While he may be cautious initially, once he forms a bond with his new person, he transforms into a purring dynamo, showering them with love and affection. This charming feline finds joy in the simplest pleasures, especially when it comes to playtime. With an endless supply of energy, he delights in chasing after the elusive red dot of the laser light and engaging in playful antics with his toy mice. His playful spirit knows no bounds, and his zest for life is infectious. But perhaps what sets Swiss apart is his capacity for love. Just like the heart-shaped pattern on his fur, Swiss possesses a heart of pure gold. With each gentle purr and affectionate nuzzle, he demonstrates his deep bond and unwavering devotion to his beloved human. While it may take time for Swiss to trust and open up, the patience and understanding invested in earning his affection will be richly rewarded. For those lucky enough to welcome Swiss into their lives, they'll discover a loyal companion whose love knows no bounds—a true treasure to cherish for a lifetime. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a feline friend in need, Windy Ridge Rescue invites you to consider Swiss for adoption. To learn more about this courageous kitty or to arrange a meeting, please fill out an online application at windyridgerescue.org/application.
