Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Astrid was an indoor cat for a while with her former owners; but when she went into heat and was too “wild” they decided to dump her outside. Astrid ended up having kittens outside; 6 in total and took care of them the best she could - 2 ended up “running away” according to the lady. We offered to take them in; she wanted to get rid of Astrid and after a lot of back and forth agreed to give us 2 kittens. The two babies that were able to be saved have been adopted. Astrid has been with in her foster home for about a month now. She’s the SWEETEST cat; loves people with a passion and gets along ok with other cats (not sure if it is the cats in the foster home's fault for bullying her or if she’s not a fan of other cats). She wants to be with her foster mom wherever she is in the house and loves to cuddle and being held. When she gets home from work, Astrid has to say 'hi' from the kitchen counter and then asks to be held. She’s the loudest purr-er and sleeps with foster mom all night long. She still has kitten energy; loves to play and adorably, one of her favorite past times is a little game of toss-and-fetch with her favorite toys. We believe the deserved the most special home, with someone that won’t put her outside like so many did before us. She loves the inside kitty life! If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. November 26, 2023, 3:52 pm

Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi! I'm Hermonie and I'm a cutie! I was rescued along with my siblings, Mystique, Fireball and Angel. We all were ill from being outside on our own. The nice person that rescued us took us to the vet ASPA! Two of my siblings' lost sight in one of their eyes but I and Mystique were lucky and our eyesight was saved. None of us care though! We all get along just like any other kittens. We are perfect! Our foster mommy said that's all that needed to be written to describe us... perfect. We are the most loving group of kittens that you are going to meet. We are in a temporary foster home. We came here because we had no where else to go and needed a safe place to land. We do need a foster home but would even be happier to have a foster to adopt. We need to get our vetting done and someone to take us to our appointment(s). Would you be interested in having one of the sweetest kittens in your life or even all four of us? We will make your heart smile... promise. Love,Hermonie *Due to our size, no young children If you would like to meet your new best friends, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hi! So a little about Darcy. I took in Darcy from a lady who was just told she had to start dialysis and was unable to care for her cats. She had found the others homes but not Darcy. I took her in. Come to find out she is not a fan of kids. I have 4. Darcy is now 2 years old. Calm. Always wants to sit in the window. She’s a very affectionate cat. Just doesn’t like kids. I want Darcy to go to a loving, quite home. I’m unsure how she is with other animals. She deserves a place where she will strive every day.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Momma Frita, a short haired dilute tortie who joined our rescue with her 4 kittens. She was found outside and raised her kittens under the house of a cat friendly person, who reached out to our rescue. She has taken care of her kittens and is finally ready for a home of her own. She is slow to warm up, but once she does, she is a friendly cat who enjoys a good scratch under her chin. But watch your food, as she likes to sniff and see what you are eating!November 27, 2023, 8:10 am
