🐾 Meet Chester! 🐾 Chester’s journey to becoming a house cat started underneath a backyard shed during the heat of summer. ❤️ His foster noticed that every time he opened the back door, Chester would peek out from his hiding spot. The funny part? The door hinges squeaked—and sounded a whole lot like a kitten. We’re pretty sure little Chester thought someone inside was calling to him. 😂 Then Chester met Howard, his foster’s resident cat. Howard is an exceptionally friendly guy, and for whatever reason, he decided Chester was his buddy. Chester started following him everywhere. Eventually, he even followed Howard right into the house. Trusting the human inside was a different story. Chester watched from a safe distance as Howard got pets and attention, and little by little, he seemed to realize, “Okay... maybe this person is safe.” One day, after plenty of observation, Chester finally decided to give it a try and let his foster pet him. That was the breakthrough. ❤️ Since then, Chester has become more comfortable every day. It has taken more than a month to get to this point, and he can still be skittish at times, so we expect he’ll need patience while adjusting to a new home. He isn’t the kind of kitten who will necessarily walk in on day one and immediately act like he owns the place. But Chester has already shown us that once he feels safe, he can learn to trust. We think he would do especially well in a quieter home with another friendly, confident cat or kitten who can show him the ropes—just like Howard did. 🐱❤️ A busy, high-activity household probably wouldn’t be his favorite. Chester is litterbox trained and ready to find a family willing to give him the time he needs. He may not choose you in five minutes. But give him patience, safety, and a feline friend to follow, and you just might get to watch him make the same brave journey from hiding under the shed to realizing he belongs inside. 🐾

🐾 Meet Liberty! 🤍 Liberty is finally coming out of her shell, and we’re getting to see more and more of the sweet girl who’s been hiding underneath all that uncertainty. ❤️ After spending much of her time with us as a very shy girl, foster care has given Liberty the chance to decompress and learn that people—and home—can be safe. And she’s making some pretty big strides! Liberty now lets her foster pet her all over and has discovered that butt scritches are actually pretty fantastic. 😂 She’s still a little uneasy about being held, but even that is improving as her confidence grows. She’s still not the type of cat who will walk into a new home and immediately act like she pays the mortgage. Liberty likes to observe, settle in, and decide for herself that everything is okay. Once she does, though, her affectionate side starts to come through. 🤍 Liberty would thrive with a calm, patient family who understands that she may need a little time to adjust. Give her love without pressure and let her move at her own pace, and you’ll get the privilege of watching this shy girl continue to blossom. If you have a quieter home and a soft spot for the ones whose trust has to be earned, Liberty may be waiting for you. 🤍 Come meet Liberty at Petco on Sundays from 2–4 PM! 🐾

🐾 Meet Phoenix! 🐾 Phoenix is a gorgeous tortie with an independent spirit, a quirky personality, and plenty of tortitude. 👑 She enjoys affection, but she likes to be the one who decides when and how much. After being returned from an adoption, Phoenix has been taking her time settling back into her foster home. She was very reserved at first, but she’s slowly started venturing out again — exploring the kitchen and dining room when the house is quiet and becoming more comfortable each day. Phoenix isn’t particularly interested in making friends with the other dogs and cats, but she can peacefully coexist with them and is comfortable being in the same room. She’d likely do best with other pets who will respect her space rather than expect her to be their new best friend. She still has boundaries with people, too, but she’ll happily accept pets when she’s comfortable. Phoenix may grumble or growl to let you know when she’s had enough, but she has never shown aggression. She simply appreciates people who listen when she says, “Okay, that’s enough.” 😂 Phoenix doesn’t need to be the center of attention. She’s an independent, low-key girl who wants a comfortable home, people who understand her, and the freedom to come around on her own terms. Give her a little patience and respect her boundaries, and you’ll get to know the wonderfully quirky girl underneath. 🖤🔥
