Meet Calypso 🐾 Calypso is a shy, sensitive young kitty who is still learning that the world — and people — can be safe and kind. When she first came into our care, she was very fearful and hissy, but she has never tried to bite or scratch. Instead, she tends to freeze up and observe quietly when she’s unsure. In foster, Calypso has already made encouraging progress. She was hissy her first night, but quickly settled and has since allowed handling for medications and incision care without fighting or incident. She may look nervous, but she is very tolerant and gentle, even when being picked up and cared for. Calypso seems to feel safest in cozy, enclosed spaces and currently prefers spending time in her covered crate, where she can watch what’s going on from a distance. While she isn’t quite ready for full-on affection yet, she has started accepting gentle pets and even leaned into chin scritches — a big step for a timid girl like her. When she thinks no one is watching, Calypso’s playful side comes out. She’s been caught pulling feathers into her crate to play with and batting around a jingle bell toy — and we’ve even seen her playing at the shop when she thought she was alone. She enjoys treats and is quietly curious about the world around her, and with time, patience, and a calm environment, we believe Calypso will continue to come out of her shell and gain confidence. Calypso would do best in a quiet home with a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time — and that the most rewarding bonds are often the ones you earn slowly. She seems to have a lovely balance of both affection and playful curiosity, making her a wonderful little companion as she continues to grow. Miss Kitty is a tuxedo kitty about 2 years of age. She has black fur mostly on her back, tail and head with a cute little beauty mark on her chin. Soft white fur is on her legs, chest and lower face. Miss Kitty is a very affectionate, sweet lady. She is a little shy in her new environment but is happy for visits and petting. She may prefer a quieter home and one that lets her settle in on her own speed. She is still a young gal and will probably enjoy a variety of toys and interactive play. Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S. Rollo is a Domestic Short Hair who is approximately 7- 8 years of age.  He is black with some grey/white coloring above his pretty eyes.  Rollo is an independent cat, but loves attention and petting when it's on his own terms.  A sweet boy, but shy and will need a patient family to out him at ease.  At this point we suggest a quiet household without young kids.
