NOT YOUR TYPICAL CALICO  DOB 8/25/23 This beautiful calico is Carmella, an absolute lap cat. Carmella is great with other kitties and has grown up around a large dog. This kitty is so laid-back and gentle unless she's wrestling with one of her siblings, and then she plays whole-heartedly.  Carmella loves exploring and climbing. She's very active, but not in a crazy way. She loves to be picked up and cuddled like a baby. Carmella is a real treasure. RETIRED DUMPSTER DIVA  DOB 9/1/22    Mew! Mew, everyone! I’m Elona, a sweet, easygoing, and sedate calico gal with a beautifully patterned coat who loves for my hoomans to pet me and shower me with affection. Whereas I get along with the other kitties in my foster home, I don’t go out of my way to socialize or play with them. I prefer relaxing in my donut bed and enjoying the comfy life of an indoor Queen Cleopatra. You see, I know what it’s like to fend for myself on the mean streets of Houston and even to be a “dumpster diva.” Initially two college students found me, responsibly got me spayed, and then released me back outside because they couldn’t keep me in their dorm room. When the semester ended, they went home, so I made my way to the senior living facility next to campus. There I lived paw-to-mouth by relying on several people to feed me and pet me every day. One man even christened me Elona and cared enough to contact HOPE to find me a forever home. I'm glad to have kissed the hardscrabble life good-bye, and now I’m actively looking for a hooman who will cherish me and give me the love and attention that a beautiful, regal girl like me deserves. SWEET AND SASSY  DOB 5/27/23 Did you know that in Japan calico cats are thought to bring good luck? If your life needs a good-luck charm, I may be the furry talisman that you’ve been hankering for. Mew! Mew, everyone! I’m Moony, and I’m a very curious, cuddly, beautifully-marked calico gal who loves belly rubs, kisses, and snuggling close to my hoomans of all ages, including the young children in my foster home. I got my name because my coloring matches a Moon Pie. We calico girls are renowned for our spunky, assertive personalities while simultaneously we’re sweet, loving, and loyal, and I’m no exception. I’m generally independent and don’t require constant attention, but I readily respond to the loving companionship of my entire foster family. Although I’m initially shy, I’m affectionate, friendly, and playful. When my brother Moo Moo and I were about three weeks old, a Good Samaritan found us as orphans because a dog had killed our mom. As soon as future Foster Meowmy saw our sweet little faces, she agreed to take us into her home and bottle-feed us. We responded to her nurturing and fought to get back our health. It seemed like no time before we went from our fragile, malnourished condition to eating and playing all day long! It helped that the family dog acted as a surrogate mom to us, even though admittedly she overly groomed us. We never complained! And we fit right in with the other older foster kittens to tumble and pounce, climb and wrestle until we collapsed exhausted in a kitten puddle. We eventually accepted the "baton" that was passed to us so we could teach and play gently with a four-week-old orphan tuxedo kitten when she arrived. Hello applicants!  Meet our adorable Angelina.  This sweet girl is just perfect!  She loves all humans, cats and gets along with dogs too.  Angelina like many other Spring Branch Rescue intakes was found on the streets of Houston.  Probably dumped or got away from her home.  When we took her in she had a litter of kittens with her.  We have been able to find homes for all except this amazing girl.  She is fully housebroken and extremely obedient.  She will do great in any living situation.  Her transition from our foster home to yours should be a very easy one.  Our dear Angelina is FIV positive.  You take a chance when rescuing a cat that they will be FIV positive.  Back in the days it was a death sentence for them as many were not educated enough on this.  THERE is nothing bad about FIV.  WE love our FIV intakes!  They live long happy lives.  They will require a little more attention to upper respiratory issues.  Kinda like someone who has allergies.  You will need to stablish a relationship with a vet and keep up with all your yearly shots as expected.  FIV cats can live with other FIV cats and Dogs.  Unfortunately, cats that have FIV cannot live with those that do not have it.  Some adopters have adopted in the past and kept up with yearly shots for their health cats.  That's up to you as an adopter.  We have to let you know what we were told by our vet.  We have found homes for so many!!!  Absolutely NOTHING bad with their adoptions.  Lived long happy lives.  Why should you adopt from a Texas Rescue? Because you will be giving one of our many dogs and cats in need a chance for a better future from a city that has an animal crisis.  We are heartbroken each day with the many incredible and loving animals found wondering our streets.  So many have been dumped and cannot find their way home.  Many never even had a home and were born on the streets.  WE gave them a chance.  Every animal deserves a chance. We know if adopted by you they will be loved and cared for . We believe in our local and out of state applicants.  There is a reason we drive to the Pacific Northwest every 2 weeks.  You are worth the drive. Lacy is a beautiful three year old Calico with a playful, outgoing personality. She loves to sit in your lap and snuggle. She has the unique ability to meow with her mouth closed. SO cute. She has big, beautiful gold eyes that will melt your heart. Owner is relocating and sadly cant bring Lacy along. Please consider giving this beautiful kitty a home.
