This condition is not contagious. * Has been overgrooming recently and more attention has been paid in brushing her and cleaning the home. Due to the change of seasons, particular care is taken to moisturize her skin. 2⃣ Rescue Story * Dorothy was found roaming alone on the floor of Gimje Shelter by an Adogs volunteer. She was a new born puppy who had only just opened her eyes. Although her mother was found at the same shelter, the extreme heat prevented her from caring for Dorothy, leading to her urgent rescue. 3⃣ Basic Information * With People: Is shy to strsngers and a little bit fearful but warms up quickly. Stares first at a distance, and then approaches to explore and acts charming. Follows her foster parent around, sitting or lying beside them. However, rests independently on weekends when her foster parent is at home most of time. * With Dogs: Approaches dogs who are smaller than her first! Growls and gets defensive toward bigger dogs, being scared of them. Is indifferent to familiar dogs. * With Cats: Coexisted peacefully with cats without any issues at our center. Stops, stares, and then tries to get closer to cats who she encounters during walks. Although she follows her handler when they redirect her, she still stares at the cat out of curiosity. * Separation Anxiety: Can stay alone without barking or showing anxiety. Even sleeps well on her own. * Potty Training: Uses potty pads very well indoors without mistakes! Doesn’t mark with her pee and prefers outdoor potty. * Hygiene: Is comfortable with brushing. Doesn’t like baths, the blow dryer, or nails trimming but tolerates and gets through it well. * Walks: Her energy levels are high at the beginning of walks and she pulls a bit. However, she calms down after pottying. Tends to pull on the leash when she wants to sniff the grass, sees familiar people, or sees birds to chase them. Is in training for this and doing a great job. * Car Sickness: Starts to drool after the car starts moving and vomits during long distance trips. Therefore, it's good to take breaks in the middle for a walk. Has no issue with short distances. Enjoys watching the outside. * Biting: Does not bite at all! Shows some possessiveness over food though. * Barking: Whines when there's a noise outside or she wants to get out of kennel. Barks briefly out of excitement when her foster parent comes home. * Likes: Really likes people so she acts cute and asks to be petted! Loves food and tends to eat in a hurry so she is being fed with a slow feeder. * Dislikes: Is scared of loud noises from buses, cars, or motorcycles. However, she is okay with other sounds like vacuum cleaners. Feels uncomfortable if strangers keep paying attention to her at home. * Tricks: Learned commands such as "Sit down", "Lie down", "Wait", and "House"!

WEACT visited the Wanju Animal Shelter for the second phase of rescues as part of the Save Us Project (Monthly Sponsorship), which aims to give new lives to dogs facing euthanasia. On the day of our visit, we were overwhelmed with shock. The shelter's exterior, barely held together by tarps, looked more like a prison than a kennel. Inside, large dogs were tethered to short leashes in cramped spaces, each struggling to survive. These dogs had been living for years on just a 50cm-long leash. While they were able to eat and drink enough to survive, there was no sign of a life worth living for these animals. WEACT rescued five dogs suffering in the cold winter, including #weact_bbibbi, from the Wanju Shelter.

WEACT received a tip in March of 2021 that there were dogs dying at #HwaseongPaltanDogFarm. Upon seeing the stiff bodies of the dogs in the photos, we immediately headed to Hwaseong. The site was even more terrifying in person. There were 12 neglected dogs either trapped in small cages or tied up on short leashes with only food waste in a bowl. Without proper shelter, they had to endure extreme weather conditions and fear for their lives. Thanks to the help from our volunteers and RE:BIRTH, we were able to rescue all 12 dogs as well as three stray dogs nearby. #weact_rinda was finally able to escape from the cold, dark place and finally get to know the beautiful world waiting for her.

n December 2019, the #SiheungDogFarm entered the spotlight as the story of Yumi emerged—a dog that miraculously escaped with extensive burns covering its entire body. Another animal welfare organization initially launched a rescue operation, but on Christmas Day, the owner transferred all the animals to a different dog farm. Although their whereabouts remained elusive, persistent efforts eventually convinced the farm owner to surrender them. However, the time spent in slaughterhouses had inflicted profound trauma on these dogs. Taking charge of the situation, WEACT and volunteers provided ceaseless day and night care, leading to the successful rescue of 65 animals from the #SiheungDogFarm. Due to their profound trauma and injuries inflicted by humans, it necessitated an extended period of time and heightened effort to rehabilitate them. Even four years down the line, WEACT remains steadfast in its mission to facilitate the adoption of dogs from #SiheungDogFarm. #weact_betty was one of the rescues from this very location.
