Story
Dakota - Smart, Sweet, and Just the Right Amount of Lovebug
Hi. I’m Dakota.
Two years old. Black and white. Big satellite ears that pick up everything. If a treat bag crinkles three rooms away, I know.
When I first arrived, I was a little unsure. Now that I know I’m safe, my personality has entered the chat.
I am sweet. Very sweet. I give hugs. I give kisses. I occasionally try to jump up for attention because I get excited to see my people. We’re working on keeping all four paws on the floor. Progress is happening. Belly rubs help speed up the learning curve.
I’m smart. Like, really smart. I know sit. I know come. We’re practicing down and stay. I technically stay… I just scoot closer because I prefer to stay near you. Details. I know where the door is. If we’re in the garage and you say house, I head right inside. I pay attention.
Potty trained. One accident that was more of a scheduling issue than a Dakota issue. I’m crate trained too. I can sleep in it. I just prefer being near my humans at night because I enjoy quality time.
I love yard time. Fetch is fun. Running is fun. Digging is also fun, but when you say leave it, I stop and go back to playing. I listen. A securely fenced yard would be ideal because I’m quick, curious, and athletic. Think nimble, not naughty.
Car rides are getting better every time. I like to look out the window or offer kisses to the driver. Multitasking.
Brushing? Sure. Bath time? Let’s call it dramatic performance art. I will cling to you like you are my flotation device. We go slow. I survive. You laugh.
Toys. I have set personal records in speed de stuffing. One minute is my current best. I now specialize in durable toys only. Plushies do not stand a chance.
I’m treat motivated, so I focus hard when snacks are involved. Around other dogs, I’m learning manners and space. Short, structured play works great. I’m improving every day and I love having dog friends.
I’m mostly quiet. When the other dogs bark, I usually just observe like the mature lady I am. Occasionally I’ll bark for attention. If you crate me, I may provide a brief vocal concert featuring grumbles and a little wolf style howl. It’s artistic.
I can be a wonderful family dog with the right match. I do best with older, respectful kids and confident humans who appreciate a smart, affectionate, slightly independent girl. I bond deeply. I love my people. I just also like to think for myself sometimes.
If you want a loyal sidekick with big ears, big brains, and an even bigger heart, I’m ready.
Bring snacks. I’ll do the rest.
