Story
A note from Disney`s foster mom:Disney is a female, 4 yr old Anatolian Shepard mix. She came into Aggieland Humane with 9 beautiful puppies that were only weeks old. Once here, we discovered she was alsoheartworm positive. She and her puppies went into foster in August. She raised her puppies and when old enough they went on a big adventure to Washington state. We turned our focus to treating her heartworms and getting her healthy and she stayed with her foster until she completely recovered. Her foster family shared the following notes:- She had a hard life before she came to Aggieland. It’s taken her awhile to learn how to just be a dog….she was scared to walk on grass the first day!- She is the poster dog for the 3/3/3 rule….after her puppies left she slept for 3 days; it took her about 3 weeks to get used to our dogs and our routine, and 3 months for her true, derpy personality to come out.- She is shy and a bit timid when meeting new people and new dogs. But with each proper introduction, she gains more confidence. We had multiple dogs of varying ages and temperments and she learned to get along well with everyone. She is definitely a follower…she will not get into trouble on her own, but will definitely join in with a group!- Since she is learning how to be a dog, she is a bit like a puppy trapped in a big dog’s body! She will steal the occasional shoe or sock but if you provide her with plenty of toys (I actually gave her an old tennis shoe) she is very easily redirected and is definitely learning what’s fair game and what’s not. And she gets the GOOFIEST ZOOMIES : )- She is house-trained but not crate-trained. She has been left out in the house for long periods with my dogs and has never gotten into anything although I do not leave shoes out!- She rides well in a car and walks beautifully on a leash. She is very treat-motivated and takes them very gently.- She knows “come” and is working on “sit”. Because she is timid, training will take patience and a soft attitude.- She has grown into a beautiful, incredibly loving dog! Her favorite thing is when you lay down on her bed with her….she is in absolute heaven!!- She has done her job and raised her puppies and now it’s her turn to find her forever home. If you take a chance on this sweet, goofy girl and have the patience to help her continue to grow into a strong, confident dog you will be rewarded with a lifetime of love!
