Alice has been in rescue since early November.   She is a little reserved but building confident. Alice loves attention.  When you stop petting her she will nuzzle under your hand to say "More pets, please!"  Thought to be around 3-4 years old , she even has moments of puppy-like playfulness. A great size at about 50 lbs. Best Guess on Breed: Carolina Dog.  She does well on leash. She is crate trained. She gets along well with other dogs.  Alice was surrendered to Polk County Animal Control with her sister Charlotte after their owner passed away.  She was very afraid at the shelter. To make matters worse she was housed separately from Charlotte.  So she lost her owner/mom, her home and her housemate/sister all at the same time. Lonley and confused, Alice started to shut down. A kind volunteer worked with Alice and took her out to spend time with Charlotte.  Seeing Charlotte made things a little less scary and she would breifly come out of her shell and play, only to go back to her kennel in the scary shelter.  We could see in the videos that she was so frightened, but she wanted to be loved.  They are housemates and have been through loss. Alice needs another dog in the home to help show her the way. She would love for it to be her sister as she transitions into her forever home, but that is not a requirement. However,  generous supporter who would love to see these two stay together has offered to sponsor Charlotte's adoption fee if they are adopted as a pair.  Adoption fee $300 includes spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworms.To fill out an application visit https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/33868/generic ##2580470##

Tawny is a delightful Carolina Dog mix with a heart full of love and an adventurous spirit. There’s nothing she enjoys more than being with her family, making her the perfect companion for someone looking for a loyal and affectionate pup. Whether she’s lounging in the sun, playing in the yard, or going on an outdoor adventure, Tawny is always happiest when she’s by your side. This sweet girl rides well in the car and is fantastic on a leash, making her an excellent travel and walking buddy. She absolutely loves water, so if you enjoy hiking, camping, or trips to the lake, Tawny will be right there, ready to join in on the fun. Her favorite backyard pasttime - playing a good game of fetch! She gets along wonderfully with all dogs, making her a great addition to a multi-dog household. She would fit right in with a dog that wants to play. She does have a habit of jumping when excited, so a home without toddlers would be best. She has met cats and hasn't tried to chase. Tawny is very affectionate and thrives on attention and affection. She is still working on her potty training but is making great progress in her foster home. With consistency and patience, she will continue to improve. She is content in a kennel but prefers to be around her family on the couch or bed! Currently being fostered in Seguin, TX, Tawny is looking for a forever home where she can be part of an active and loving family. Her adoption fee is $250 for in-state adopters and an additional $300 for out-of-state transport.
