Story
Unknown breed. We adopted Louie as a puppy in which he inherited a genetic autoimmune disease. He is now cured but the experience made him a lovable dog who is just happy to be alive! He is such an easy, good dog. He is completely house trained and has free reign of the house at all hours of the day/night without any concern, won't eat anything not handed to him (don't have to worry about leaving things out on the counter/floors), won't stray or try to open doors (even if already ajar!), and just loves humans. We have a toddler and he just hasn't adapted well to having her in the house with us. We would like to rehome him for a better quality of life for him as he seems to be extra anxious around her unpredictable behavior. I believe he would do well with a family with older kids (>5 years) and has had plenty of experience being poked and prodded by young children in general. His experience with other dogs depends on the breed and whether they bark first- he tends to ignore them if so.

Story
Adoption fee $200Meet sweet, sweet Penny Penny we are told was originally hit by a car and broke her leg. She had surgery on her leg, but it didn't heal properly. As a result of nerve damage and subsequent injuries her leg needed to be amputated. Her previous owners brought her to the vet for euthanasia instead. The vet called us and asked for help. Penny was hospitalized for a few days, had her leg amputated and moved into a foster home. She has done great with her healing but she was also found to be heartworm positive. She is now working through heartworm treatment and is doing well in her foster home with the other dogs and all the people she has met. She is ALWAYS happy and smiling. We have agreed that it is time to start looking for a furever home! Heartworm treatment would continue to be paid for by the rescue, but an adoptive or foster to adoptive home would be great to get her settled into while she continues her treatment journey. We are told she is approximately 6 years old.  To apply to foster or adopt Penny please fill out an application at www.k911foundation.comJuly 25, 2024, 9:16 am

Story
Chloe arrived from a rural shelter where she was discovered as a stray. Having had to vie with larger dogs for food and being shot at while foraging, she's understandably wary at first. However, she will warm up and takes pleasure in the presence of other dogs. Chloe is quite fond of her new role as a pet! At 6.5 months old and weighing 18 pounds, we anticipate she'll grow into her large ears and remain below 25 pounds. She is potty trained and good with other dogs. She is not a good match for kids under 13 years and those kids would require a meet to see how she does. Interested in knowing more about Chloe or to schedule a meet and greet? Please begin by completing an application and then we will be in touch. Dog Adoption Application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS-A-843 Bio updated July 11, 2024.
