Story
Looking for a loyal companion who handles every social situation with grace and a wagging tail? Meet Riley, the sophisticated sweetheart who is officially ready to find her forever fan club! If Riley were a person, she’d be the one at the party who is effortlessly cool, polite to everyone, and secretly the best dancer in the room. This stunning girl is a master of reading the room, she basically has a pHd in dog language. With her gentle spirit and expressive eyes, she has a way of melting hearts without even trying. She is the perfect mix of playful energy and soulful observation, making her a total joy to be around! Want to see those ears in action? https://youtu.be/6ewnL4GrBSg Your New Favorite Shadow has entered the chat (it’s Riley). She is the definition of a ride or die companion. While she loves to explore, she is truly a velcro dog at heart especially once she finds her person! She isn’t the type to demand constant attention, but she’ll happily be your silent partner, hanging out nearby while you work or relaxing at your feet during a movie marathon. Whether you're planning a backyard adventure or a cozy Sunday nap, Riley just wants to be part of the team. We suspect Riley is a beautiful Carolina Dog mix, showing off that classic, sleek athletic look. Weighing in at a sturdy and manageable 48 lbs, she’s the perfect medium size sturdy enough for a walk but compact enough to fit perfectly on the sofa and not take it all up. You can’t talk about Riley without mentioning her most famous feature: those incredible ears! In a world of symmetry, Riley decides to mix it up. One ear stands tall and alert, ready to catch the sound of a treat bag from a mile away, while the other stays adorably flopped over, giving her a curious, "Wait, what did you say?" expression that is as goofy as it is heart melting. While we don’t know her exact DNA since she’s a rescue, we can tell you that she’s 100% a good girl! Riley is flourishing in a loving foster home and is an absolute dream in the house! Whether you’re busy in the kitchen (where she’ll happily supervise the delicious smells) or relaxing in the living room, Riley will be right there near you, offering her quiet, loyal companionship. She is a true expert in the art of the belly rub and will soak up every bit of affection you’re willing to give. Her gentle nature shines through in everything she does, especially when she’s taking treats; she is incredibly soft and polite, making every interaction a total joy. When she’s not being a polite housemate, she’s a frisbee superstar she loves to sprint out for a catch and will happily pounce her way back to you to deliver it for another round. Riley’s also a fantastic travel companion who is great in the car; while she might take a moment to jump in (just to make sure you’ve packed everything you need!) Once she’s settled, she spends the ride peacefully gazing out the window as if she’s leading a serious game of Eye Spy. Riley is a devoted friend to those she trusts. She is looking for a family that will give her just a little time to settle in so she can show off her true, sparkly personality! When it comes to other pups, Riley is a total sweetheart! She is a social girl who truly enjoys the company of other dogs. She’s a bit like the awkward kid at the dance she might take a few minutes to find her rhythm, but once she’s comfortable, she steps right into the spotlight! She loves a good game of chase and will give the most adorable play bows to let her friends know it’s time to party. She’d thrive with a furry sibling who enjoys a game of tag but also knows when it's time to settle down and relax. However, if you're looking for a solo companion, Riley would also be perfectly happy being your one and only! Whether she’s part of a pack or the center of your universe, she just wants to be where the love is. Is she a cat fan? Riley hasn’t quite told us how she feels about cats yet! She showed a polite curiosity when meeting a cat giving it a few friendly sniffs before moving on. Before becoming roommates with a cat, she’d love to have a supervised slumber party with a kitty to confirm they’ll be the best of buds. Riley is incredibly versatile! Whether you live in a house with a yard for zoomies or a cozy apartment mail trip walks, she’s happy as long as she’s with you. Beyond her beautiful golden tan coat, Riley truly brings a sense of warm sunshine into every room she walks in. She is incredibly affectionate and caring, forming a bond that is as steady as it is sweet. One look at her soulful face and those perfectly imperfect ears one standing tall and one adorably flopped and you'll realize she is the missing piece to your puzzle. Those ears give her a constant look of curious wonder, as if she's always listening for your next "Good girl!" or your invitation to play with the frisbee. In short, Riley is a girl who will make you laugh daily, be an awesome canine buddy to your dog, and is ready to see the big-wide-world with you by her side. Between those soulful eyes and those perfectly imperfect ears, you’ll find yourself questioning where this dog has been your whole life. Meet Buddy! Buddy is a gentle, sweet 5-year-old Carolina Dog mix with a calm, low-energy personality that makes him an easy companion to love. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would fit right into a home with canine friends—or soak up the love as your only pup. This kind boy is also great with kids and would thrive in a calm household or with a family that has older children. Buddy enjoys cozy moments on the couch just as much as he enjoys getting out for walks or relaxed hikes. He walks beautifully on a leash, making every outing with him peaceful and enjoyable. Buddy already knows how to sit and takes treats with the softest, sweetest manners. With his gentle nature and affectionate heart, he’s ready to be the perfect companion for someone who wants a loyal friend by their side. If you’re looking for a kind, easygoing dog to share life’s quiet moments—and a few adventures—with, Buddy might be your perfect match. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Story
Meet Sonny, also known as Chicken Nugget, a 6-month-old sweetheart who is equal parts adorable, loyal, and just a little bit sensitive in the cutest way. Sonny is 100% potty trained and crate trained, making him an easy addition to a home that’s ready for a young pup. He’s still very much a puppy, learning about the world one step at a time, and new adventures can feel a little scary for him at first. Because of that, Sonny thrives when he has another confident dog by his side. Having a dog friend isn’t just a bonus for him, it’s his number one requirement. He looks to other dogs for comfort, guidance, and play, and truly comes out of his shell when he has a buddy. This sweet boy has a gentle, loving nature and bonds deeply with his people. Once he feels safe, he’ll happily follow you around and soak up all the affection you have to give. He does best in an active home where he can continue building confidence, explore, and play. Sonny is not suited for apartment living and will need a home with space to move and a family committed to giving him the exercise and structure a young pup needs. If you have a playful, friendly dog and are looking to add a soft-hearted, loyal companion to your home, Sonny could be your perfect match. He may be a little shy at first, but with love, patience, and a canine best friend, Sonny will grow into the most devoted and happy boy. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. Story
Tawny is a delightful Carolina Dog mix with a heart full of love and an adventurous spirit. There’s nothing she enjoys more than being with her family, making her the perfect companion for someone looking for a loyal and affectionate pup. Whether she’s lounging in the sun, playing in the yard, or going on an outdoor adventure, Tawny is always happiest when she’s by your side. Tawny was in North Carolina for a big snow storm and she loved it! This sweet girl rides well in the car and is fantastic on a leash, making her an excellent travel and walking buddy. She absolutely loves water, so if you enjoy hiking, camping, or trips to the lake, Tawny will be right there, ready to join in on the fun. Her favorite backyard pasttime - playing a good game of fetch! She gets along wonderfully with all dogs, making her a great addition to a multi-dog household. She would fit right in with a dog that wants to play. She does have a habit of jumping when excited, so a home without toddlers would be best. She has been in a household with cats and is good with the ones that are not hissing or aggressive with her. We recommend a home without cats for safety purposes. Tawny is very affectionate and thrives on attention and affection. She is fully potty trained. She does well in a kennel but prefers to be on the couch or bed with her family. Currently being fostered in Kannapolis, NC, Tawny is looking for a forever home where she can be part of an active and loving family. If you’re searching for a playful, adventurous, and affectionate companion, Tawny is ready to be your best friend! To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link.
