Story
Meadow is one of those cats who quietly rewires you. She came to us having learned, from the very beginning of her life, that people were not safe. That the world was something to be feared. For a time, it seemed like that story might be the one she carried forever. But Meadow had more in her than that — and every single day, she proves it. She is a treasure. A small, beautiful, complicated treasure, and we have fallen completely in love with her. *** A Day in Meadow's World*** Meadow moves through her days anchored to one constant: Onyx, our personal male cat. She found him, decided he was her person, and has not left his side since. Where he goes, she goes. They sleep together on high perches or stretched out across the bed, and if you watch closely you'll catch her wrapping her tail around him as they move — a small, quietly devoted gesture that says everything about who she is. Onyx is her compass. He shows her that the world inside these walls is safe, that people who approach with gentle hands can be trusted, that love is something available to her too. When I'm giving Onyx attention, Meadow watches. She takes it in. And slowly, when she's decided it looks safe enough, she'll edge closer and accept some of that affection for herself. A chin rub, a slow and gentle stroke down her back — she leans into these things when she's ready. She just needs to reach that readiness on her own schedule, not yours. Approaching Meadow requires patience and intention. No rushing toward her, no sudden movements. You come in slowly, offer your fingers for a sniff, and you wait. When she decides you're okay, she'll let you know. That moment — when Meadow chooses you — is worth every second of the wait. She does have her limits. Her tummy and her feet are off the table, and reaching for either will startle her. Nail trims are genuinely challenging; we use protective gloves to keep ourselves safe during the process, because her fear response is real and involuntary. It isn't aggression — it's a girl who learned early that sudden handling meant danger, and her body still responds accordingly. A patient home will work with her on this slowly, consistently, and without pressure. *** Her Story *** Meadow came to us having never known safety. From birth, her experience with people taught her to be afraid, and the weight of that was heartbreaking to witness. But she is not that frightened little cat anymore — not entirely. She has come so far. When I look at where she started and where she is now, I feel nothing but hope for what her life can become in the right home. She has very special markings — delicate and striking in equal measure. Her chin is a warm shade of brown, which we've affectionately decided means she's a messy eater, even though she is in reality an impossibly dainty and proper little lady who would like the record corrected. *** What Meadow Needs *** Meadow needs a home with a calm, confident male cat who can be for her what Onyx has been — a safe landing, a guide, a companion she can lean on while she continues to open up to the humans around her. Without that anchor, she will struggle. With it, she can flourish. She needs an adopter who goes into this with open eyes and open hands — someone who understands she may never be a lap cat, may never seek out cuddles the way other cats do, and who finds meaning in that rather than disappointment. Because the affection Meadow gives, when she gives it, is earned. It is deliberate. It is real. And it means more than you can imagine coming from a cat who once believed none of this was possible for her. She doesn't need someone asking what she can offer. She needs someone who simply wants to be part of her becoming. Meadow would do best in: A calm, quiet home with a gentle, confident adult male cat she can bond with — this is truly essential for her wellbeing. A patient adopter who understands her history, respects her pace, and will continue the slow, steady trust-building work she deserves. Not recommended for homes with young children or high-energy pets.

Story
Toupi and Binou were born into rescue on the day their mom was accepted into care. They have grown up together and it would be wonderful if they could be adopted together, if possible, but finding their way to a loving forever home is the important thing. Toupi enjoys cuddles and giving tender licks (kisses!). His prominent, orange toned nose, makes him an absolutely stunning cat!

Story
Meet Begonia, a beautiful calico with a gentle soul and the softest little presence. Quiet and shy, Begonia is looking for a patient, understanding family who will let her move at her own pace as she learns to feel safe and at home. For Begonia, trust is a slow journey — it may take months, or even longer — but every small step she takes is meaningful and hard-earned. While she may not be ready for pets or cuddles yet, Begonia shows her affection in her own sweet ways. She will happily lick a squeeze treat from your fingers, quietly keep you company, and at night, she has even started joining her foster on the bed — a huge sign of growing confidence. She truly wants to connect; she just needs time and kindness to get there. Begonia absolutely loves the company of other animals and would thrive in a home with a friendly cat or calm dog. She is almost always curled up near her furry companions, whether that’s snoozing on the dog bed when it is free or stretching out in a warm patch of sunlight. She is an easy, peaceful companion who asks for very little and causes no trouble at all. Despite her difficult start in life, Begonia has impeccable manners. She does not jump on counters, scratch furniture, or demand attention. She is healthy, tiny, incredibly adorable, and so deserving of a forever home where she can continue to blossom in her own time. Begonia may never be the kind of cat who rushes into your arms — but for the right person, earning her trust will be something truly special.

Story
Elsa is a gentle girl who can be shy when meeting new people, but with a little patience and kindness, her true personality shines. Once she trusts you, Elsa absolutely loves cuddles, attention, and being close to her people. She is incredibly sweet, playful, and enjoys her quiet moments just as much as playtime. One of her adorable quirks is her love for sleeping in the sink — her favorite cozy little spot. Elsa has strongly bonded with Hugs, a young male who is fostering with him. We would love for them to be adopted together!

Story
Everything about Forrest will make you smile. He is really handsome with a sweet little face and a spotted nose and chin. Forrest thinks every cat and human wants to be his best friend and he isn't shy about playing, snuggling or grooming each one. Forrest is quiet, he loves to be held and gently touching his foster's face and gives little nose licks (kisses). Forrest loves to chase toys around the house, little balls and springs have been a favorite. During his energetic play he loves to nibble and wrestle with fingers, sneak attack when someone walks by and tries to get to the birds outside the window. After playing he will sleep where ever he ends up, it could be a pile of fresh laundry or on a hard coffee table. When Forrest needs love he climbs up onto his human purring and head butting for attention, and will deliver her own kisses and nuzzles too. Forrest is 4 months old with no health issues, a healthy appetite, a little bit of attitude and lots of love to give. Forrest came into rescue with 2 brothers, Pine and Burke.

Story
Katie is an extremely shy cat. In March 2024, she came into rescue with a litter of kittens (Toupi and Binou are still available for adoption!). Katie is an easy guest. She provides quiet companionship by mainly keeping to herself, but by quietly being nearby. She would thrive in a quiet home that will allow her the time to come around in time, no matter how long it takes. She does wonderfully with other cats. Meet Katie at Whiskers Lodge in Steinbach!
