Meet Honeybee. Honeybee's story started with someone simply refusing to leave her behind. A kind person spotted Honeybee on the side of the road while they were on their way to work. They couldn't just drive past her, so they scooped her up, brought her safely to work with them, and contacted MHS. One of our Humane Officers went to pick her up, and that's when they learned that Honeybee's front leg was swollen. Once she arrived at the shelter, our veterinarian took a closer look and discovered that the swelling was very indicative of a snake bite. Thankfully, Honeybee showed no signs of respiratory distress or a rash. Our veterinary team immediately started her on a treatment plan and closely monitored her while she completed her stray hold. Sadly, no owner ever came forward for Honeybee. But Honeybee is still waiting for her happy ending. Since completing her stray hold, she has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and is heartworm negative. She's safe, she's cared for, and now she just needs someone willing to show her that the world can be a kind and loving place. Honeybee is a sweet, timid, shy girl who can be a little unsure of new things. She needs a patient family who will give her the time and reassurance she needs to come out of her shell. We know there's a confident little girl waiting to emerge when she finally feels safe enough to let her guard down. Honeybee doesn't need someone to rush her.
