Birdie is a stunningly beautiful girl!! She fell on hard times when her family had significant health issues so she was left to fend for herself. She came to the Ark very frightened and needing lots of special TLC. In the short time she has been at the Ark she has blossomed into an incredibly smart, playful and affectionate girl! She is tall (just above knee high) and has the most beautiful prancing gait as she runs! (and yes, she does have one brown eye and one blue eye!!) Birdie is a Catahoula Heeler, which means she has strong working dog traits and needs to be in a home where she can be active, have a 'job' and get lots of exercise. NEWBIE ALERT!! This beauty is Mercy! She’s an adorable Terrier mix with stunning ice blue eyes. She’s as friendly as they come. Loves all people and animals. She’s around 1 year old and 25ish lbs. She would make the perfect family addition. She will complete her vetting this week and will then be adoption ready. Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals. All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy! Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. NEWBIE ALERT!! Meet Papi. A Good Samaritan found him and his siblings under a shed. When a volunteer went out to capture, 2 more siblings and a sweet momma dog was found. Thankfully, between us and Misfits out of Mississippi, we were able to capture and get everyone into foster before this last freeze. We secured a foster for all 6 babies and Misfits took the sweet and beautiful momma who is available for adoption through them. The babies have settled in, received first vaccines and parasite treatment and are doing well. We believe they are 6-7 weeks old. Mom is gorgeous catahoula mix and dad is unknown. We do believe they will be larger sized adults. They will be ready in a few short weeks once they have had their second round of vaccines and they are altered.
