All dogs have age appropriate vaccines including Distemper, Parvo, and Rabies. All dogs are spayed or neutered, and wormed for parasites. Older puppies and adults are tested for heartworms and treated if found to be positive.  NovaStar is a 501C3 non-profit rescue that receives no monetary help from local, state or federal entities. All adoption fees go straight to our vets to help pay for the veterinary care and other expenses related to the care of all the dogs in the rescue. Other than adoption fees, NovaStar is financed exclusively by donations and an occasional grant Contact us about reduced adoption fees on dogs that have been long term rescue residents!!  Adoption fees:  Adults 1 year and older: $150 Seniors 6 years and older: $75 Puppies 0 to 6 months old: $295 to $350, dependent on breed Puppies 6 months to 1 year: $200 Transport is available from Arkansas with stops in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, NY, NJ, and Connecticut. Transport fee is 150. *** ALL FIELDS on application must be filled out. Incomplete applications will result in an automatic denial. Minimum applicant age is 25 years old (we will review applications on a case by case basis). Your current pets must be spayed/neutered and on heartworm preventative, verifiable by your vet. Please contact your vet’s office and give permission for a NovaStar representative to speak with them. Personal References will have 24 hours to respond once initial contact is made. Freckles (looks like Catahoula/Lab Mix) has the cutest freckled face! She is a sweet girl, once she gets to know you. Freckles likes to run around the dog park but is just as happy having quiet time with her favorite person(s). Freckles has been diagnosed with early renal disease and is on a prescription diet to control it. Prior to adoption, you will be required to have a veterinarian who must consult with our shelter's vet.Please know that Freckles is also eligible to be a medical foster. Our current adoption fee is $100 for puppies, kittens, and small dogs and $80 for dogs and cats older than 7 months, unless otherwise noted. Every pet that is available for adoption is current on shots, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.HSPC's adoption fee is currently reduced from $100 to $75 unless stated otherwise within the pet's description. Every pet that is available for adoption has been spayed/neutered, microchipped, wormed and is up-to-date on vaccinations including heartworm preventative (canines).
