Story
Meet Toots, the pup who’s got the world’s best "silent charm"! This 1 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog is DEAF, but definitely not lacking in personality. She’s got all the energy, affection, and enthusiasm you'd expect from a dog who’s full of love. Toots was found as a stray in Gautier, and while we’re totally puzzled that no one came to reclaim this spunky girl, we're certain there’s a perfect family out there waiting for her. Whether you're tossing treats or giving belly rubs, she’ll happily let you know she's all in. Toots may not hear you calling her name, but she’s the first to notice when you’re nearby, always ready for a tail-wagging hello. She’s a fan of meeting new friends, human or dog, so bring your furry companion in for a meet and greet! Training a deaf dog comes with its own set of challenges, but Toots is all about learning in her own way, and her sweet, eager-to-please nature makes her a great student. Come meet Toots today and see how quiet companionship can be the loudest form of love! By adopting me today you will save the life of two pets -- you'll save me and that will make room for the Shelter to rescue and save another pet.

Story
NEWBIE ALERT!! Meet Star. This beautiful 5 month old Catahoula Curr mix puppy is smart and loving. She loves attention and is eager to please. She and her siblings were found in a field by good Samaritins who are currently fostering her. She is good with other dogs, cats, and children and has shown no signs of aggression. She has been to the vet and had 2 sets of shots, heartworm protection and will be spayed soon. She will make an excellent family dog. Get your apps in now! Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications!
