Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Jasper. That’s probably not my real name because my story is unfortunately a lot like many other unwanted pets. I was left to fend for myself not knowing where my next meal would be. Luckily I was rescued and given my chance to shine. I have proven that I really really love people regardless of my early start with humans. I want to be loved so much that I will beg for just a head rub and lap snuggles. Yes I’m a big strong boy but I’m really a small lap dog disguised in a hound dog body. Do I give slobbery kisses, why yes, is there a problem with that? I love to run and play but if given a choice I’d rather be by my persons side. I would make a great adventure companion. Riding shotgun by your side wherever you go, that would be my doggie dream. Currently I share a foster home with lots of other all size dogs but I would really like to be your only ride or die dog. I’ve gone so long without one on one attention that I’m constantly competing for the attention. Am I perfect? Heck no but I’m a diamond in the rough, clay ready to be molded. I’m looking for my person who is ready to be my furever person. One who will love me and never give up on me. I’ve been waiting a long time to just be loved. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 6, 2025, 12:45 pm

Story
Meet Rad, a 2.5-year-old, 76-pound gentle giant who’s equal parts playful goofball and loyal companion. He starts off with a burst of energy, but once that’s out of his system, he settles into a laid-back, lovable boy who’s happy just being near you. Rad is a smart pup who already knows sit, shake, down, and seems to understand "come." He’s treat-motivated and eager to learn, which makes training a breeze. He’s also a total toy lover—he’ll happily chase and fetch, though he might leave the “bring it all the way back” part up to you. He occasionally jumps up when really excited, especially during toy time, but it's all in good fun. He enjoys a good run and would love a fenced yard where he can stretch those long legs. Afterward, he's more than happy to settle in for snuggles once he’s comfortable. Rad can be a little unsure with new people at first and is slightly head shy, but if you take things slow, he quickly shows his affectionate, goofy side. Once you’re in his circle, you’re in for life. He rides well in the car—after one initial boost, he quickly figured it out and now hops in with enthusiasm. He’s also well-mannered on leash with just light to moderate pulling—he’s a big boy, after all. He’s been interested but calm around other dogs, though he hasn’t been fully dog tested yet. Rad was a champ for his bath and continues to show us what a great, well-rounded dog he’s becoming. With a little patience and a lot of love, Rad is ready to be someone’s best friend—and he might just be yours. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
