Story
MEET CHAI! Chai is a 3-year-old, 53-lb Catahoula mix who is as sweet and affectionate as they come. This handsome boy truly loves being close to his people and feels happiest when he can see what his humans are up to.Chai prefers not to be left alone and does best when his crate is set up in a room where he can feel included—he just wants to be part of the family. He’s a smart, eager-to-please pup who already knows sit, down, and even an adorable “play dead” trick! He’ll also spin in a circle on a hand signal and enjoys showing off his skills, especially when food is involved.Chai appears to be house trained and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. He’s playful and would love a dog buddy who actually wants to romp and play with him. He likes kids and has not yet been tested with cats.On leash, Chai can be a bit of a puller, but with consistency and positive reinforcement (especially treats!), he should improve quickly. If you’re looking for a loyal, people-loving companion with brains, personality, and a big heart, Chai is your guy. Located in Houston, TX Transport available to most states for a $300 fee

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.&#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143Stardust has been available since APRIL! I can’t understand why she has been overlooked. She is gorgeous!! Please share!!&#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143 Stardust is crate trained, house trained, and non destructive in the home. She only weighs about 40 pounds and is 1 year old. She is good with other dogs. She's medium energy, a few romps in the yard and engaging toys (hooves and Kongs, puzzle treats) are enough to keep her happy. This girl has decided to put fear in the hearts of all squirrels and bunnies in our yard. If you garden, you know this is huge! The wildlife must think twice before eating our plants. She takes the yard patrol very seriously and we let her take all the time she likes outside. It's very engaging work, apparently. If she's got a fenced in space and things to smell, she is perfectly capable of exercising herself. Oh, and she walks on top of the snow because as tall as she is, she weighs nothing. Cold doesn't bother her, she's doing great in New England! She is so affectionate and really tries to figure out what you want. She's learned to sit, wait, and give eye contact when I say her name. When I put my hands on my hips and frown, she lowers her body to apologize and snakes her way to me to give kisses. When I'm in distress and grief from my dog's recent death, she recognizes it. Stardust has unlocked the ability to couch cuddle and LOVES it! She also watches TV. Stardust was very considerate with my dog as he was dying, she could tell he didn't feel well. She's also considerate with my small senior dog, Mia, but she still clobbers her accidentally. She's had a blast playing with young dogs who want to wrestle and would do great with a playmate. All in all, she's an awesome girl!! She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Merle graduates from Paws in Prison in 2 weeks and does not have an adopter. Please share! Cat, dog, and kid friendly! His name is Merle, and he’s something special. Inside and out. He’s a uniquely handsome mixed breed. Most of his good looks come from the Catahoula Leopard Dog in him (we think). His coat is epic. The one blue and one brown eye could also come from the Catahoula part since that breed can have several eye colors. Could also be an Aussie mix? Either way he just got lucky and got this striking combo of eye colors. Merle is a smart, friendly, and nice boy. He’s also a wiz at head-tilting. He can and will use that to his advantage. As he should. Merle is 2 years old and weighs 50 pounds. He has the ability to someday run the world, but he won’t. Because he’d much rather hang out with you. And he doesn’t care who knows it. He gets along very well with other dogs and loves all people that he has encountered while in rescue. Before Paws in Prison, he was in a foster home that includes a 4 year old little boy who he loves. He is good with cats. About Paws in Prison-Merle is paired with inmate trainers for 8 weeks. They work with him on basic obedience, leash walking, etc. They meet weekly with a certified dog trainer. Upon graduation, he will have the skills needed to pass the Canine Good Citizen test. He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Merle is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays.
