Quartz

Catahoula Leopard Dog Australian Cattle Dog

Female, Adult
Stephenville, TX
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Quartz was found as a stray and not claimed. She has been incredibly skinny since intake and is receiving twice a day feedings, although she does not finish a meal usually. Her fosters made a note that she doesn't really eat her dry food unless it is mixed in with wet food. Her previous name was "Shenzi" which she does respond to. She does resource guard her food with the other dogs near her kennel. She has done okay with dogs in passing in a calmer setting, but has been dog reactive at the shelter. She is a very sweet lady and is very high energy. She knows "sit" and "shake." She is housetrained and did fine being left out in her foster home(any countertop food should be put above her reach). She will tear her way out of a crate if she is left unsupervised in one. She loves going on car rides and being able to stick her head out of the window. She loves being outside with her people, but if left unattended she will jump a fence. Her fosters said that she never barked while she was with them. Quartz would do best in an only pet home. Quartz loves cuddles. She is spayed, is microchipped, heartworm negative (also on prevention). She is up to date on her DHPP and Bordetella, but does need a rabies All adoptions are first come first serve the day of availability. ECHS does not reserve available animals for the public for any reason. Please note that availability is subject to change at any point in time per ECHS discretion.

Story
Professor X is a friendly boy but can frighten easily with sudden movements. He is okay on a leash but is getting better. Professor X loves belly rubs and is a real cuddler. Professor is learning how to sit and tends to want to give you his paw to shake when he does. This boy loves to play fetch and will return and drop his toy at your feet for you to throw it. He will bust out of a crate if it is not properly latched. He does seem to have some separation anxiety and should be crated when left alone. He is dog friendly and treat motivated. Professor X has been vaccinated with DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies, is heartworm negative and on prevention, microchipped and neutered. All adoptions are first come first serve the day of availability. ECHS does not reserve adoptable animals for the public for any reason. Please note that availability is subject to change at any point in time per ECHS discretion.

Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Diamond is a shy girl that may need a little time and space to get used to new surroundings. She was adopted and returned because the other dog did not like how playful she was and would get into fights with her. She can act intimidating through a fence, but is a big baby. She does well with other dogs and cats. She is suspicious of horses, but did not attempt to go after them in her previous foster home. She is potty trained. She does okay on a leash, but can be timid in new environments and benefits from a harness. She does not seem to enjoy going for walks and her foster said that she prefers to lounge about the house. She loves to play, but can be a little rough so we recommend that she be monitored around children just in case she plays too roughly with them. If you have children, please teach them that Diamond needs space and she may dislike children getting in her face. Diamond is very cuddly and adoring once she gets used to you. Her latest foster said that while she was crated when they were gone for long periods of time, she did very well while left out by herself for short periods of time and overnight. Diamond is not a bad dog, she is simply more anxious than most and needs more time to come around than other dogs. Diamond is spayed, vaccinated with DHPP and Bordetella, microchipped, and heartworm negative and on prevention. She is due for a rabies vaccination.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lady Bird was surrendered because she does not do well when left by herself. She is good with other dogs, kids, and strangers. She cannot live with cats or livestock. She is not fully housetrained but is very smart and should pick up potty training pretty fast. She is an energetic dog breed that will need an outlet for her energy, either through a big yard or someone that is willing to take her for long walks. Her previous owner said she loves playing fetch. She walks well on a leash, rides well in a car, and does know basic commands. Lady Bird is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention. Lady Bird does need to put on some groceries, but hopefully will be at a healthier weight soon.

Catahoula Leopard Dog Mixed Breed (Medium)

Stephenville, TX
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Squirrel was found near the Grove Apartments and not reclaimed. He is an energetic puppy that would thrive in a home with either a doggy playmate or someone with time to play with him. He can be quite vocal when he is unhappy and would likely not do well in an apartment setting if he is the only dog. While he has his bursts of energy, he sleeps about as hard as he plays. Squirrel has big feet and ears to grow into and will definitely be a larger dog when full grown. Squirrel is a puppy that will need time and training. He is neutered, rabies vaccinated, and dewormed. He is pending a microchip. He will be available after receiving his 2nd of 3 DHPP vaccinations on 4/15.
