Story
Applications at leiashope.org Starling is a 6 year old female Cavalier located in Troy MO Starling is a sweet, gentle girl with a soft heart and a serious love for cuddles. Cavaliers are known for being affectionate, people-oriented companion dogs, and Starling fits that loving, snuggly nature beautifully. She absolutely loves kids, but like many former breeder dogs, she may be skittish at first if they walk directly toward her. Once everyone is sitting or laying down, Starling is all in and will beg to be picked up so she can cuddle close. Starling loves her stuffy toys and has the perfect couch potato vibe. Cavaliers are often happiest just being near their people, and Starling is very much a little shadow. She likes to follow her person around, but she does not get underfoot. She also needs a canine companion who won’t mind being followed everywhere, because Starling feels safest and happiest with another dog by her side. Starling hates leashes. Actually, she detests them. They terrify her, so she will require a secure physical fenced yard. She does not enjoy confinement and is not much of a barker unless she is really scared. Cavaliers are typically gentle, affectionate, soft-natured dogs who thrive on companionship, routine, and a calm home. They are not a breed that enjoys being ignored or left out of family life, and Starling will do best with someone who wants a close little companion. She is kinda perfect for a couch potato kind of vibe, as long as she has her people, her doggy friend, and a safe fenced yard. Starling’s adoption fee is $325. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and has received a dental. She does not have all of her teeth, but she has enough to eat just fine. We are a volunteer ran rescue and all of our dogs are in foster homes. Applications can take 7–10 business days to process. We only do meet and greets with an approved application. All family members, including dogs, must be present at the meet and greet. Meets and adoptions are done at the dog’s location. Please be sure to read the Facts and Questions section on our website before applying. Applications can be found at leiashope.org.

Story
💙🐾 Meet Scooter!! 🐾💙 Location: Troy MO Adoption Fee: $550 Scooter is an adorable 3½-month-old Tri-Color Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has been in rescue for about a week, and we are just beginning to discover all the wonderful things about this sweet little boy. At 11 pounds, he has the cutest round puppy belly and plenty of puppy breath to go around! 🥰 Scooter came into rescue after finding himself without the family or home he needed at such a young age. We are so grateful that he made his way to us, because this sweet little boy has so much love and personality to share. He is gentle and a little shy, but his playful side really comes out when he is around other puppies. He is loving having toys and puppy buddies to play with, and we believe having a confident dog in his forever home would be incredibly helpful as he continues to build his confidence and learn how to be a happy, well-adjusted dog. A canine mentor would be a wonderful addition to Scooter’s life. 💙 Scooter has been seen by our veterinarian and was noted to be healthy. He tested negative for Giardia and has completed a general deworming protocol. He is beginning monthly heartworm prevention and will continue his puppy vaccine series once enough time has passed since his recent Rabies vaccination. Scooter is microchipped and will need continued veterinary care to finish his puppy vaccines and then routine annual care throughout his life. He is doing well on Nulo Puppy food along with freeze-dried raw toppers, probiotics and pumpkin as he transitions to his new diet. We recommend continuing a quality puppy food during his first year while he grows and develops, along with healthy treats and snacks. Like all puppies, Scooter is still learning that the whole world is not his potty! 😂 Potty training will take time, patience and consistency. Frequent trips outside, positive reinforcement and lots of praise will help him learn. There will be accidents along the way because puppies are babies learning the rules of their new world. Scooter is a sweet-natured and sensitive little boy who will thrive with kindness, patience, encouragement and lots of love. ❤️ We would love to see Scooter find a family who understands the commitment that comes with raising a puppy and is ready to help him continue becoming the confident little Cavalier we know he can be. Another friendly dog would be wonderful, and children who understand how to interact appropriately with a puppy could be a great addition as well. A fenced yard would be a bonus, although Scooter should also do well learning to walk on a leash. Most of all, Scooter wants what every puppy deserves—a family to love, a safe place to grow, and a forever home where he will be cherished for the special little boy he is. 🏡💙 📍 Scooter is located in Troy, Missouri. Applicants must be willing to travel to Troy. We do not transport or ship dogs. If flying, Scooter must travel in the airplane cabin; he will not be permitted to travel in cargo. Leia’s Hope Canine Rescue is a foster-based, volunteer-run rescue. An approved application is required before meet-and-greets, and applications are reviewed to find the best fit for each individual dog. Please allow 7–10 business days for application processing. A puppy is a commitment that may last 15 years or longer, so applicants should carefully consider the time, expense, training and lifestyle changes involved in raising a puppy. 🐾 Additional adoption information and applications can be found at leiashope.org. 🐾
