Meet Toby! Toby is an 11-pound King Charles Cavalier–Poodle mix with a gentle soul and a playful personality that truly shines around other dogs. In playgroup, he loves engaging with his canine friends and shows off his happy, fun-loving side. Toby may be a little timid at first in new situations, especially with new people, but with patience, time, and relationship-building, he reveals just how much love he has to give. Once he feels safe and understood, he becomes a sweet, affectionate companion. Toby requires another confident dog in the home to help him adjust, feel secure, and continue building confidence. Having a canine role model brings out the best in him and helps him feel comfortable navigating his world. To ensure the best possible match, a meet-and-greet at the shelter is required. With the right canine companion, a patient adopter, and a calm environment, Toby is ready to blossom into a loving and devoted family member. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly.
