Story
Meet Bennett!! Bennett is a 4-year-old, 28-pound Cavalier/Poodle mix with the most beautiful charcoal grey curls and gentle, soulful eyes. He is a puppy mill survivor, and because of his past, the world is still a new and sometimes overwhelming place for him. He can be timid at first, but with patience, kindness, and love, Bennett is already beginning to show his sweet personality and learn that he is safe.
Bennett is especially comforted by the presence of his foster dog brothers and looks to them for guidance on how to be a family dog. He watches their routines closely and is slowly learning what it means to relax and be part of a home. He is currently on crate rest while his leg heals, which has also helped him settle into a potty routine and feel secure in his own space.
He is a quiet, gentle soul who has yet to bark, and he takes treats (especially anything with peanut butter) very softly from your hand. Once he trusts you, Bennett walks nicely on leash and enjoys being by your side.
Bennett will do best in a calm, patient home with adopters who understand that trust takes time. In return, you’ll have the privilege of watching him continue to blossom and discover that the world isn’t so scary after all. His journey is just beginning, and his future family will be the most important part of his happy ending.
Bennett is being fostered in Staten Island, NY and his adoption fee is $600.
Bennett is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
