No Phone Calls -Please fill out an adoption application, send it back to us and we will review and return calls. Go to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save an application. Email it back to larrydonnacarp@aol.com to be approved. No Elderly Owners due to his past history. He will do best with an owner 50 years old or younger. He is an active dog and would be too much for a senior owner. Absolutely no children or grandkids. Adult only home is best. Meet JoJo, a handsome, active 9-year-old black n white Cavalier mix. His owner bought him from a breeder. When he decided to move, he turned him into a shelter where he was taken in by a rescue. He bit several of their people, and they didn't know how to deal with him, so he came to us. Every day we have worked with him, challenged him and corrected him to behave properly. We have not quit on him just because he needs to learn things. He has been with us for a little over 4 years and has made tremendous progress. His issues are doable if you listen to our suggestions and what we have learned works for him to be a good dog. Ideal home is a calm adult only home with a good alpha owner willing to work with him and a small dog social pal. A fenced yard is a must. He is crate trained, mostly house trained and eats well at mealtimes. A home with few visitors and limited distractions is a plus. No children, no grandchildren and no senior owners due to his past. He can be with other dogs but doesn't do well with big dogs and cannot be in a home with Pitt Bulls. He does best with Cocker Spaniels and Corgi's, but he is not a dog who likes to play with them. He is selective with who he likes and will bond well with you once he knows you. He can be a sweet, goofy guy, likes to play fetch, is a bit jealous at times, enjoys mealtimes and doesn't do well going outside when it rains. A woman groomer is best. Adoption Fee $200

Story
Astro just wants to be outside and play all day, that is how he truly bonds is through treats and play. Very smart he never uses the bathroom inside he won’t up to 15 hours. He is great with commands and listens to anything you say , he is anxious so it may take him a couple days to let him get used to you, but usually he enjoys when you let him be and just take him out feed and and play. Eventually he loves belly rubs and will roll over and behind the ear, day he has all the energy night he gets more clingy Nothing more nothing less. I love him with all my heart but I want someone who can truly take the best care for him and take him on hikes still and who wants a bestfriend. I would love to check in from time to time just to see how he is holding up in his new home so I hope that is okay with whoever decided to love this boy.

Meet Benny! This sweet 6-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix is as gentle and loving as they come. Benny has a calm, laid-back personality and is the kind of pup who brings a peaceful presence wherever he goes. He may start out a little shy, but once he knows you, he trots right over with his adorable big brown eyes, ready for pats and cuddles. Benny loves simple joys-snacks, quiet time with his favorite people, and strolling around the yard or neighborhood taking in all the good smells. He's a quiet, affectionate companion who enjoys a relaxed environment where he can feel safe and loved. He does well meeting new dogs and has been around many in his foster home. While he prefers calmer canine friends over energetic big dogs, he handles introductions beautifully and has a polite, gentle demeanor. Benny would do wonderfully with a low-key family and is gentle enough to be a good fit for children of any age. He has not been kid-tested yet in his foster home, but his sweet nature suggests he'd be comfortable with a variety of households, including first-time pet owners. Benny is working on his house training and learning basic obedience skills like coming when called-he's a smart boy and eager to please, so continued positive training will help him shine even more. He walks nicely on a leash, is not a big barker, and would be perfectly content in an apartment or condo setting as long as he gets his daily sniff-walks and plenty of love. This cuddly, quiet, and loving boy is ready to settle into a forever home where he can feel safe and adored. Benny is neutered, current on vaccines, and microchipped.
