Tank is a 25-pound, 6-year-old Poodle with a gentle soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. He’s taking his time adjusting to new surroundings and is looking for a patient, understanding family who will help him continue building confidence at his own pace.
Tank does well with other dogs, especially in a calm, low-key environment. In fact, he may truly thrive with a confident, friendly dog in the home to show him the ropes and help him feel more secure. He takes comfort in canine companionship and blossoms when he doesn’t feel alone. If there are other dogs in the home, a meet and greet at the shelter will be required to ensure it’s a good match for everyone.
Tank can walk on a leash, but he does best with gentle encouragement and a patient adopter who will help him feel safe and supported as he gains confidence. A securely fenced yard would still be a wonderful bonus so he can explore and enjoy the outdoors at his own pace.
One of Tank’s favorite comforts is his crate. He sees it as his own little safe space and settles in nicely there, making it a great tool to help him relax and feel secure in his new home.

Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly.
