Story
Porter is a charmingly pocket-sized gentleman, approximately 10 Ibs. and 7-8 years old, and he is ready & waiting for a home of his own! He arrived at NCCR on 9/12/26, transferred after being dumped at an overcrowded shelter by a breeder who was done with him. Little Porter is believed to be a Cavapoo or miniature poodle, full-grown, dog-friendly, people-friendly, cat-friendly, and he is looking for a soft place to land where he can adjust to his new life as part of a loving forever family. If you have a low-key, quiet home and can promise him the kindness and affectionate he deserves, Porter can't wait to meet you!Porter is one of three Cavapoos (or mini poodles?) who arrived September 12th. (Porter-apricot male, Jade-grey female (adopted), Pixie-brown female) Their temporary foster mom reported, “They are very friendly dogs, good with cats and other dogs.” According to the transport drivers, "The poodles are sweet as can be. When you talk to them, they wiggle their entire bodies! So excited to be somewhere other than where they were. Will make wonderful additions to some family."*Porter and Pixie are now in a foster home. Meet & Greets can be arranged for approved applicants. They can be adopted separately, or better yet, together! They are microchipped, vaccinated and altered.*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he is a great fit.If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email, as we receive many phone calls.We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!
