Story
Valley is a female white miniature poodle, larger than some. She is reportedly 16 years old and she weighs about 16 pounds. Valley is spayed and vaccinated including rabies. She recently had a dental cleaning (no teeth lost), a small cyst removed from her eyelid and cautery of a couple of other spots. Valley is heartworm negative and on monthly preventive. Valley is ready for adoption.
We only want the best for Valley. She is a senior citizen dumped at a shelter and stated to be 16. Valley is a gentle girl looking for reassurance that she is safe. She would do best in a calm home with older people and maybe an older dog or two. She is fine with dogs in her foster home but she doesn’t want to play. We think this is because Valley has little or no peripheral vision. It’s hard to really know, but she definitely gives the impression that she has unexpectedly bumped into a lot of things and she flinches when you reach for her or something appears unexpectedly near her. Her hearing is not super either. However Valley is gentle and sweet. She frolics a little when she sees you straight ahead of her and is a happy girl. Valley loves couch or bed snuggles. Valley has some old lady bumpies on her skin. The doctor shaved the area of these during the dental to drain couple of them, cauterize a couple and to make it easier to medicate and keep them clean of hair sticking to the medicine. She needs a careful, gentle groomer who can work with these areas when choosing how to make her look her best, and an owner who will properly brush her between groomings. It took three weeks for her to venture a kiss to her foster mom. She needed time to warm up, we are sure the whole situation of getting dumped was scary and you could tell she had been neglected before. Valley’s expectations are basic…. A cuddly bed and blanket and a quiet spot where no one will be bumping into her. Valley has done well with potty habits especially for an old gal. She does best if you go outside with her and wait until she does all her business. Otherwise, she may come to the door, not having completed the task. Valley needs and deserves someone who will spend time with her letting her sit beside and petting her, wash her face with a warm cloth daily to keep the eye boogies away, and let Valley know she is safe and loved.
