Story
Meet Zeke — our gorgeous, two-year-old Shepherd/Aussie mix who has been patiently waiting for his forever family. 🖤✨ Zeke came to us from our rural shelter partner several weeks ago, and since then he has truly thrived in his foster home. This boy is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and has that classic working-breed heart that wants nothing more than to bond with his people and make them proud. Zeke is fully crate trained, does wonderfully with all people, and is absolutely obsessed with other dogs. He greets every new pup with a wagging tail and an open heart, and he gains so much confidence from being around dog friends. While he can get a little anxious in brand-new environments, once he has a moment to take it all in, he settles beautifully and becomes the sweetest, happiest guy in the room. And yet… he keeps getting overlooked. Like so many black-coated dogs, Zeke is a victim of Black Dog Syndrome, where dogs with darker fur are often passed by simply because of their color. It breaks our hearts, because Zeke is pure sunshine on the inside — gentle, affectionate, goofy, and endlessly loyal. He has been one of our longer-term dogs, and we cannot understand why. He is the full package: smart, loving, trainable, great with dogs and people, and ready to be someone’s adventure buddy and best friend. Zeke is so deserving of a family who will finally see him for the incredible dog he is. If you’ve been looking for a loyal, devoted companion to brighten your days, this sweet boy is waiting with his whole heart. 🐾💛 #adopt #adoptdontshop #rescue #rescuedog #rescuedoglove

Introducing our Christmas Litter — four tiny miracles who survived more than any puppy ever should. 🎄❤️ These babies were found as strays in a very rural part of South Carolina and brought into a shelter that is heartbreakingly overwhelmed. Kennels are quadrupled up, dogs are being housed outside, and these little ones simply didn’t stand a chance. So we stepped in, scooped them up, and found them incredible foster homes where they’ve been safe, warm, and oh-so-loved. At just 8 weeks old, they’ve already blossomed into the sweetest, happiest bunch. They’re learning how to be real puppies — playing, snuggling, exploring, and soaking up every ounce of affection they can get. We’re calling them “super mutts”… maybe some pittie in there, maybe a mix of holiday magic. Either way, they’re perfect. ❤️ There are four total, and Jingles is the only little boy among the group — a jolly little guy living up to his festive name. These puppies are now ready to head to their forever homes, where they can spend their first Christmas surrounded by love instead of uncertainty. If you’re ready to give one of these sweet babies a holiday miracle of their own, apply to adopt on our website! 🎅🏼🐾

✨ Meet Fig — the sweetest girl no one seems to notice ✨ Fig is about 2 years old, mixed breed, and made entirely of sweetness. She spent months in a rural shelter, literally growing up there while people walked past her kennel again and again. And now that she’s safe with us… it’s happening all over again. 💔 Black dog syndrome is real. Dogs like Fig — darker coats, mixed breeds, nothing “fancy” — get overlooked every single day. They don’t photograph as easily, their features don’t “pop,” and somehow people forget to look twice… even though these dogs have some of the biggest hearts you’ll ever meet. Fig is the perfect example. She’s amazing with people and kids, house-trained, crate-trained, and ready to give someone her whole heart. She’s good with other dogs (slow intros because she just wants to understand what’s happening). She does okay with cats but will need guidance — nothing she can’t learn with a patient family. ✨ She’s smart. She’s loyal. She’s gentle. She’s goofy. She is everything people say they want in a dog. We truly don’t know why she keeps getting passed over — but we do know she deserves so much more than being invisible. With the holidays coming up, please don’t overlook this beautiful girl. A share can change her entire life. Let’s make sure Fig doesn’t spend another season waiting for someone to finally see her. 🖤🐾#adopt #adoptdontshop❤️ #rescue #rescuedoglove #rescuedogsofinstagram #foster #fosteringsaveslives❤️🐶 #fosterdogs #fosterdogsofinstagram #rescueismyfavouritebreed #dustytailsanimalrescue #dustytails #charleston #charlestonsc
