Story
Hi there, I’m Bear — a handsome black-and-white Chiweenie / Black Lab mix with a big personality packed into my 30-pound frame. 🐾🖤🤍 I’m about 2 years old, and once you get to know me, you’ll see I’ve got equal parts energy, confidence, and affection to share.I’m a total pro for baths and nail trims (no drama here!), and I get along great with cats, dogs of all sizes, and the elderly. I absolutely adore children and love to hop around with them! I’m a high-energy guy who loves to check everything out 👀—running, playing, and exploring are some of my favorite things. Snow days? Yes, please! ❄️ I’ve got a bit of an alpha personality, but I’m also smart and responsive. I do really well with clicker training, which makes learning new things fun and easy for both of us.I can be a little shy at first, but don’t worry—give me some gentle reassurance, a little patience, and a few yummy treats, and I’ll be your best friend in no time. 💕 Once I warm up, I’m incredibly affectionate and generous with kisses. I also love car rides 🚗 and make a great travel buddy. If you’re looking for an energetic, loving companion who’s ready to run, play, cuddle, and ride shotgun on life’s adventures, I just might be your guy. 📞 Call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to learn more about me or come meet me in person — I can’t wait to make your day a little brighter! 🐶✨****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.Adoption Fees:-$60 for cats-$60 for dogs over 6 years-$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years-$100 for puppies up to 6 monthsCome visit our pets Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of our adoptable animals are up to date on routine vaccinations, microchipped and spayed or neutered.  If the animal is too young a certificate for the spay/neuter is included in the adoption fee.  Please CLICK HERE to complete our online adoption application. Many of our animals can be seen at our adoption center located at 5820 Richmond Rd, Texarkana, TX on Saturdays between 10 am - 3 pm.  To make arrangements to meet any of our animals, please call us at 1-877-525-4825, option 2.   Texarkana Animal League is a 501c3 non profit and all donations are tax deductible.  Killer is a senior chi/terrier mix whose owner passed away recently and killer found himself at the Hope Animal Shelter and was very scared and in danger of being euthanized so we rescued him. He is super sweet and gets along with other dogs and cats. Hès housebroken and a love bug lap baby! He is looking for his furever home and would do best in a calm household with maybe some senior parents :)    Killer was adopted last year (5/24/25) by a lovely senior couple who loved him and gave him the best home, but his mom passed away recently, and his dad is going into the nursing home after breaking his hip so sadly Killer had to come back to us to find a new permanent home. He is the sweetest boy and loves to cuddle. He would do better being the only dog as he wants all the attention and doesn't like to share it. He gets along great with other dogs until it's time to get cuddles from his humans and then he wants the other dogs to get LOST! lol.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 13, 2025, 1:48 pm

They are sweet and playful and love toys now! When we first received them, they were shy and unsure of people and toys but now they love both and will soon be ready to find their furever homes :) They will stay small and be closer to the size of a chihuahua rather than the size of a rat terrier. we believe they are a mix of the two breeds.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 11, 2024, 6:47 pm

She suffered a broken pelvis in 3 different places but never let it slow her down. She is friendly once she gets to know you and loves to play with her toys. She healed after crate rest and pain meds and then was spayed. She will soon be undergoing heart worm treatment then will be available to adopt. She needs a quiet loving home. She would do best as an only dog so she can get all the attention. LOL. doesn't do very well around children. We are almost positive she was abused before she came to us because she shows signs of having been abused when interacting with her. She is slowly learning to trust people again.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 17, 2025, 4:55 pm
