NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 11/24/2025:  Sanya - female - 2 years old - 13.2 pounds - Chihuahua mix Reason for intake:  Sanya is an owner-surrender due to a move.  The owner put her in our vehicle so we didn't actually have hands on her at the sight.  When we arrived back at the rescue, we noticed that she appeared to have some milk so we contacted the owner.  She indicated that yes, she had puppies but they had family who were going to keep them.  We pleaded with her to please make sure that those puppies, when old enough, get spayed/neutered.  She agreed but who knows if that will actually happen.  In any case, Sanya is at the vet right now because she's getting spayed asap!  We will post more about her when we post her for adoption.  Stay tuned. Temperament:  shy at first but takes two seconds to warm up to you. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 11/26/2025:  Chestnut - male - approx 1 year old - 4.14 pounds - Chihuahua  Reason for intake:  Oh my gosh... this sweet baby boy!  Chestnut came to us from Bossier City Animal Control, surrendered there by a homeless person who could not care for him.  The skin scrape revealed he has demodex mange, more commonly known as red mange, a non-contagious type of mange.  (We will post details about Demodex when we post him for adoption.)  We administered a Bravecto and it will take effect immediately... changing this sad little boy into a happy and healthy little boy in no time.  If you zoom in, you can see all the crust and scabs from the misery from itching that he's experienced probably since about 6-8 weeks old.  Demodex is inherited from the mother dog... and we hope who ever had the mother dog, they GET HER SPAYED because all of her offspring will have this mange.  Not all will develop the condition... it just depends on their immune system.  Chestnut's immune system was probably compromised at birth and beyond, due to his environment... the food he ate, etc.  Chestnut is heading to our vet the week of 12/1/2025 for neutering and everything else he needs! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.All of our adoptable animals are up to date on routine vaccinations, microchipped and spayed or neutered.  If the animal is too young a certificate for the spay/neuter is included in the adoption fee.  Please CLICK HERE to complete our online adoption application. Many of our animals can be seen at our adoption center located at 5820 Richmond Rd, Texarkana, TX on Saturdays between 10 am - 3 pm.  To make arrangements to meet any of our animals, please call us at 1-877-525-4825, option 2.   Texarkana Animal League is a 501c3 non profit and all donations are tax deductible.  Killer is a senior chi/terrier mix whose owner passed away recently and killer found himself at the Hope Animal Shelter and was very scared and in danger of being euthanized so we rescued him. He is super sweet and gets along with other dogs and cats. Hès housebroken and a love bug lap baby! He is looking for his furever home and would do best in a calm household with maybe some senior parents :)    Killer was adopted last year (5/24/25) by a lovely senior couple who loved him and gave him the best home, but his mom passed away recently, and his dad is going into the nursing home after breaking his hip so sadly Killer had to come back to us to find a new permanent home. He is the sweetest boy and loves to cuddle. He would do better being the only dog as he wants all the attention and doesn't like to share it.
