Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
TEXAS ADOPTION ONLY Grandpa Lucky I have the weirdest name. What is that? "Grandpa Lucky. Sounds like I had a lot of luck in my short life, but I am not quite sure of all that. I just look like a Grandpa because I have lived outside most of the time and it is hard on a fella. I am only about 6 years old we think. First off, I was fished out of a river and taken to the city dog pound. I can't tell you how I got into the river, but foster mom suspects I had a little help with that. Well, it was lucky that I got fished out, but then I went to the city pound where I had 3 days before my time was up...literally. But then I got lucky again because foster mom saw me and just had to have me to foster so I got a ticket out of there. I was a pretty skinny dude when she got me, and it wasn't too long before she discovered that I love to eat. She noticed that I was having a little trouble walking on my back legs and that wasn't so good so when we got me checked out, it turns out that I have a little compression of my T4 to T6 vertebrae, whatever that is. Not good. But the vet lady said that nothing needed to be done for that so that was lucky. So, when I get a little tired, I hop like a bunny and the other times when I feel good, I walk like a regular dog. I had some tests done on my blood and I have worms living in my heart of all places. I am told that is not good. But it is lucky for me that foster mommy is giving me the medicines to kill those little varmints over time and not all at once. She said it is easier on me if we do it this way. Plus, it is lucky that I get the medicine in a little bit of tasty food that I love. Did I tell you I like to eat? About that, foster mommy tells me I can't gain too much weight, or it will be too hard on my joints and back and that won't be good. Aren't I lucky to have her to take care of me? The one complaint I have with foster mommy is that she doesn't have enough time to let me sleep in her lap during the day. I would like to have a lap in my new forever home and someone who will love me as much as foster mommy does. Because of the medicines that I am taking to kill the worms in my heart, we are looking for a forever home in the San Antonio area so I wouldn't have to travel so far. Besides having a lap to sleep in during the day, I want to sleep in the bed with you at night. I can't jump off the bed though but being with you all the time is what I want. Then I would really feel lucky! $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas)

Story
This is Buddy, and he can't wait to be yours! Buddy is a sweet young Pug mix that started life off as a feral, until he was caught by a sweet and loving foster. Buddy got the good life after that! Spoiled with treats and given so much love he's developed into a great dog. Currently, Buddy is on bedrest after completing heartworm treatment so he needs lots of love and patience while he's resting and recovering. He's a very friendly boy and does great with pretty much everyone. He would do best in a household with an active family. Buddy does tend to bark at smaller animals so he would do best in a household that doesn't have farm animals or other small pets. Dogs and cats he is fine with, though he has not had much experience with cats. Buddy would do well paired with another calm and confident dog. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Reese, 5 months old, when taken into rescue on 5/29/24, is a chocolate and tan, male chihuahua looking for his perfect forever home. His owner died and no one in the family wanted him. A good Samaritan stepped in and took him so that he would not have to go to the shelter. We were contacted and fortunately had a foster home for him. This social little guy loves everything and everybody. He is up to date on vaccinations and will be neutered soon. His adoption donation is $350. If you would like to give Reese a loving forever home, please fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. You can find a copy of that application here. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember our organization is staffed completely by volunteers. Please Note: All applications are processed in the order received, but an adoption is made to the best application received for each of our animals. All applicants must provide a vet reference on the adoption application. If you are adopting a dog from ARFA, a fenced in yard for the dog will be required. Home visits often occur with each adoption. ARFA has the right to deny adoption to any applicant for any reason without explanation. Please remember that the adoption donation is not for purchase of a dog, but rather to cover the medical cost of all dogs in our care. THE FINE PRINT 1. Animal Rescue Fund Arkansas reserves the right to deny any application, for any reason without explanation to the applicant. 2. You understand that we often take many applications on the same animal and that they are processed in the order that they come in. An application is in no way a reservation for any animal or a guarantee that you will be selected to adopt the animal. 3. If your application Is approved, you will be asked to sign a separate adoption contract. 4. Once the trial period is over, usually 1 week unless there are special circumstances, the adoption donation cannot be returned to you for any reason. It will have been used to help rescue another homeless animal and is no longer available therefore, if you return the dog to us for any reason, you will not be refunded your donation. 5. If the animal you want to adopt is placed in another home, you can transfer your application to another A.R.F.A. animal without completing additional paperwork. 6. You understand that this is a rescued pet. We rarely have any information about their past life circumstances. We have all animals examined by a vet, brought up to date on shots, given their rabies vaccine, spayed/neutered (If old enough), wormed and checked for heartworms and if positive begin treatment. We do our best to ensure that we are placing healthy pets but can make no guarantee to the health or temperament of this pet, and vet expenses are the responsibility of the adoptive family from the date of the adoption. We require that you take the pet to a vet within one week of adoption for a check-up and to allow your vet to get a baseline for your new pet’s health.

Story
Extremely Sweet and Loving, BUT Special Needs, this boy has been maltreated. Ah...Titan! He was picked up by animal control on Frye St, and apparently the owners didn't think enough of him to go get him. On euthanize date he was pulled into rescue. Mr. Titan was eventually sent up north for rehoming. After being adopted out twice, he was returned to Tennessee. The problem? Titan loves adult people, but Titan doesn't like to be told what to do. If you send him to his crate, he will growl and carry on all the way to his place. You have to understand the "Pocket Wolf"...they are so very small, that they usually display attitude. This does not mean anything really, but some people are intimidated by it. So! Unless you really understand and have past experience with this breed, please scroll on by. Titan needs a forever home, not another bounce back. Contact us and we will put you in contact with is foster to answer any questions.

PearlPit Bull Terrier mix2 years/Female24-D190Intake: July 9, 2024Let’s talk ears, Pearl has two and it’s the first thing you’ll notice when you meet her, because well, they are sticker uppers and they’re adorable. The second thing is she’s petite with a bubbly personality and both these things will make you instantly fall in love with her. We know she loves people, treats, and running around at full speed and always ends back up for some pets and lovin’. Pearl will need to meet all family members, including resident dogs to make sure everyone gets along before going home. Once home, please give her time to decompress and get used to what you expect of her. You will have to put in time to train her and with patience you will be amazed at how smart she is. Pearl is approximately 2 years and will be spayed, utd on vaccines including rabies and will be microchipped before going home. If you would like to meet this awesome girl, pet viewing hours are Monday-Friday, Noon-7pm and Saturday, Noon-4pm.
