Story
Hi there, I'm Nemo, and I am a senior dog with lots of love and affection to give! I was returned to the rescue that I was adopted from as a puppy, when my momma passed away unexpectedly. I am mostly deaf at this point, but I don't let that stop me from being the best Neighborhood Watch Commander and letting my humans know about stuff happening outside. I am a very affectionate dog, I love food, and I enjoy being snuggly and getting belly rubs. Even though I'm a senior, I still have a lot of energy and love to go on walks. I am a very good dog who is good with most other dogs and with cats, and I am very loyal to my human friends and want to be with them constantly. I am a sweet and gentle dog who is hoping to find a loving home where I can live out my golden years. I have so much love to give and I am eager to find my forever home. If you're looking for a companion who will love you endlessly, look no further than me, Nemo! I can't wait to meet you and start our life together.

Story
JuJuBe is a quiet and shy nine-year-old senior dog who has spent most of her life as a breeding dog. She is good with other dogs who are appropriate with small seniors and would benefit from a calm, quiet home where she can relax and enjoy her golden years. She ignores the cats that she currently lives with. Due to her shy and quiet nature, JuJuBe would do best in a home without small children. She would benefit from a patient and experienced adopter who can give her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable and loved. Even though she prefers to not be touched at this time, JuJuBe LOVES snacks and treats and will greet her trusted humans with a tail wag and an occasional bark. JuJuBe has no leash skills and would prefer a secure yard (no matter how small) for her trips outside. We hope that you will consider giving JuJuBe the loving home she deserves.

Meet Leelo – A Shy Girl Looking for LoveHIGHLIGHTS:Requires another confident dog already in the home.Leelo is a 2-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix weighing 10 pounds. Right now, she is very shy and nervous around people, but she’s slowly learning that the world can be a safe and loving place.Since she’s still adjusting, Leelo will need a patient and understanding home that can give her the time she needs to build confidence. A quiet environment with gentle encouragement will help her come out of her shell at her own pace.We are still getting to know more about her personality, and as she settles in, we’ll update with more details about her needs and what kind of home would suit her best. Could you be the loving family she’s been waiting for? Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to family life. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with time and a gentle approach, most of these dogs adapt quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is incredibly rewarding. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website.

Story
Meet Frisbee – a quirky, sweet, and playful little guy who weighs in at about 15 lbs and has the longest legs in his litter! Frisbee is full of energy and loves his toys, treats, and playtime with other dogs. Whether it's wrestling or snuggling, he’s always up for fun and companionship.  This smart little guy is fully potty trained, knows how to sit for treats, and looks to the other dogs around him for training cues. While he may be a bit shy at first with new people, once he warms up, there's no stopping him! Frisbee will happily launch himself into your space for some belly rubs, and his sweet nature will quickly win you over. Frisbee’s ideal home would have at least one other dog to keep him company, as he loves playing and snuggling with his canine pals. He’d also love a yard to explore and sniff around in. Frisbee enjoys shredding toys, playing tug of war, and running around for a good game of chase. He’s funny, energetic, and incredibly loyal to those he loves. He can be a little nervous around young children who want to chase or pick him up, so a household with older children might be best. If you're looking for a bouncy, lovable companion who will always make you smile, Frisbee might just be the perfect addition to your home! This pup was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2239871##

Story
Wall-E is a sweet and lovable pup who’s discovering the world around him and gaining confidence with each passing day. A true cuddle bug, he loves nothing more than curling up after an adventure-filled day. Wall-E is also a big fan of food—whether it’s treats or mealtime, he’s always excited to eat! Friendly and playful, Wall-E gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would thrive in a home where he can continue to grow, explore, and be the happy, confident dog he’s becoming. If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children, and we do not know how they will react. My name is Snow White, and I am a gorgeous, bigger Pomeranian girl who was born 3/23/21 and I weigh 18 pounds. This big new world is kind of scary so I must have an all-adult home and a socialized sibling to play with. I was very scared but within 24 hours, I am seeking pets so just be patient with me.
