Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.squish baby ISO forever family! MASON NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!    Name:    Mason          Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age:   8 weeks as of 2/02/26      SEX:    Male   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):  3 lbs 4 oz as of 2/02/26   Gets Along With:        Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Special Adoption Considerations:       Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Mason is Looking For:   His forever home! This very small sweetie and his sister Marigold had a great time being raised by their mama Marjorie but now they're all ready to split up and get their own human families.  This puppy is seeking a home where there are lots of snuggles on tap - and lots of play time, to get those puppy zoomies out! And then in a little while, once those puppy legs are a bit longer - exploring the neighborhood - the local parks - the world!   But most of all he wants to always be safe and loved, to know where he belongs. What do you say? Is that by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Mason is a joy to foster! He is very laid back and loves to snuggle and bury himself in blankets. He has a good appetite and will whine and let you know he has to go potty. He is a wonderful little companion and would make a wonderful pet. I can’t believe he’s still available! Don’t miss out and adopt this sweetheart and he could be your forever valentine.   Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than June 8, 2026. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.   Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie seeking fresh start and love! NYLA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Nyla      Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age:  7 years as of January 2026        SEX: Female   Approximate Weight:  9.4 lbs    Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations:  Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.   Nyla is Looking For:  Her forever home! Nyla is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. She's eager to get her fresh start with her own humans in the DC area. See, you know what she wants most of all? To know she's safe and loved, where she belongs. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see her down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:  'Nyla is such a loving pup! When I sit on the sofa, she jumps over to me and is all about belly rubs and snuggles. If I'm walking around, she's right there, wanting to be with me. While I work, though, she is content to curl up on the sofa. She gets along well with my two dogs - they all have mild interest in each other and coexist peacefully.  She was confident in my home from the time she arrived, happily sniffing around. She's fed in her crate and stays there overnight and when I'm out of the house. But her favorite place is definitely the sofa - she chooses that every time. And she loves her meals and treats!Nyla hasn't had much experience on leash her entire life but she is very happy to venture out and explore! It's been mostly too cold but on the couple days it went over 40, she loved walking around, looking at and sniffing everything. When it gets warmer and she builds up more stamina she will definitely want to be out and about more. It's just too cold for her when it's below 35 or so, though - she shivers even with a coat on and goes out only to potty and wants to come right back in.  She's such a loving and calm older pup who has so much affection to give her humans. Her family and she will be very lucky to have each other.' Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Name:   Penny Candy        Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age:  8 years as of January 2026         SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:  14 lbs as of January 2026 - could stand to drop a couple   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Penny Candy is Looking For:  Her forever home! This sweetie landed in the shelter through no fault of her own. At about eight years of age she's way out of the puppy yips but still has plenty of pep in her step. She's up for sniffy walks, all the adventures her new family can dream up, and love - lots of love! In exchange, she promises so many adoring gazes and loyal companionship. She would do best in a home with adults or older children.   What do you say? Are you her fresh start? Can you see her way down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:    Penny Candy is a sweet, submissive dog who simply wants to be near her person, following you around and happily curling up in your lap. She does show typical Chihuahua tendencies in that she generally prefers one person at a time, shifting her affection when her top choice isn’t available. While she is very gentle and submissive with people, Penny appears confident around other dogs and seems well socialized. She does well with our 6-year-old, who is more predictable and gentle, but is less comfortable with our 3-year-old. Overall, she has been very patient and tolerant in our household. Penny Candy sleeps through the night in her crate, though she clearly prefers sleeping with her human. She favors couches over dog beds and would happily spend 24/7 on someone’s lap if given the chance. She is very food motivated and appears to know some basic commands, including sit, come, and bed.  Overall, Penny Candy is a well-mannered and delightful dog, and we think whoever adopts her will be very lucky.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
