Story
Sometimes we never know what we will see when we start up our car and leave the safety of our homes and our beloved pets that wait for us to return.  Sometimes what we see on the road is disturbing and downright WRONG.     This pair of Chihuahuas were discovered by one of our faithful rescue fosters as she traveled a back country road that was mostly farmland and very few  houses on the road.  First she say the little white chihuahua in the road and he ran from her and wouldn’t let her catch him.  She tried for a while.  Then she went to the nearest house and talked to a man who was out in his yard about this white Chihuahua.  He told her who owned the land where the dog was seen running and so a few days later she went back determined to ride up and down the road until she could see the dog again.  Well there were TWO little chihuahuas now; white and black and tan.  She found the owners of the land and asked them about the Chis and was told they were dropped off by some unknown person and that they had been up in their barn trying to eat the cow feed. They were abandoned and soon our rescue foster trapped them and brought them home to change their life forever.  We are getting them vetted and neutered and spayed 1/26. WE NEED FOSTER HELP!   The white boy is very shy and the black and tan is a female and the “protector” of her male friend.  Help us give them a short term place to stay while we look for a permanent and forever loving home!  Can you help for a few weeks?  Please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.  They can be fostered in Nashville, TN or even in the New England area.  We transport weekly and just need someone to show them kindness, love and stability.  They will be ever so grateful!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 22, 2024, 1:56 pm

Story
This special girl is called Joni and she is a 2-3 year old Chihuahua girl that weighs 11 pounds and looking for a dream home.  This girl who has been a momma with babies before, was found with what we believe to be one of her puppies, a son named Chachi, who is white and a year old now.     This girl was found  abandoned in a very remote rural area that was nothing but countryside farm land.  The owners of the farm told us that they both showed up and had been there looking for food and shelter for over a week.  Our rescue foster mom couldn’t stand to see them left outside in the cold and with no place to be safely sheltered.  They would not come to her and so she humanely trapped them and took them home.  The rest will be history for both of these Chihuahuas.  Momma Joni is a sweet and confident girl who still takes her protective mothering responsibilities seriously.  She is still mothering and overseeing her son Chachi.  She is housebroken pretty well and crate trained and she does get along with the other small dogs in the foster home…and the cat too!  We have promised Momma Joni that she will never be thrown out and abandoned ever again.   She is ready for a new and loving owner to sweep her away on a little magic carpet to live happily ever after.   Is that you holding the key to her heart and forever future!?  Contact us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 22, 2024, 1:56 pm

Story
Clifford is a very lucky little Chihuahua.  Found in the middle of a small country road in front of a very disturbing trailer that was overrun with animals and a family that didn’t care about any of them.  Clifford was destined to being run over. This darling little guy weighs 9 pounds and is determined to be about 3-4 years and no older despite the grey on his black muzzle.  This boy is cautious when meeting new people but as soon as he is sure of you he is just the most cuddly and loving boy ever.  He is pretty much housebroken, crate trained and he is good with cats and dogs of all sizes.  He is good on a leash and would be such a great fulltime companion if he is given a consist and calm lifestyle and home.  His long little tail was broken at some point in his life and crooked and sort of a funny part of his persona.  It is not painful to him so don’t be concerned.  Clifford would be best in a home with older children and adults of course are fine for his personality.  If you are interested in this boy please write to us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  We are happy to talk with you about this darling little black nugget of a Chihuahua.

Story
Meet Miss Summer.  This extremely sweet little lady had a hard first 6 years as she endured all kinds of filth and neglect living in the home or a hoarder.  She had 20 other dogs to keep her company so she is great with other dogs.  The horrible conditions did not adversely affect Miss Summer too much.  While she is a little shy, she still has the bright and sweet personality her name reflects.  She has experienced so much since going to her foster home and is growing more confident every day.  Since she really has had no life experiences everything is new to her.  She is getting used to riding in the car as she has already been to the vet twice.  Her foster mom is attempting to teach her to walk on a leash.  It is a slow go but as Summer gains confidence she will improve.  This little lady is a little cuddle bug and loves to be with her foster mom.  She does sleep with her as her foster brothers and sister do.  Summer's favorite place is on the back of the couch.  She is quite the athletic one and easily jumps from the floor to the chair to the back of the couch.  She can definitely see what is going on from her perch.  Summer is slowly learning that you do 'your business' outside.  However this is a work in progress and will take a while.  On day 6 she started  'going' outside and also started doing zoomies around the yard.  Summer would be much happier with a fenced in yard to do both of these activities.  She loves her foster brothers and sister and warms up quickly to new people.  You just have to talk softly to her and take your time.  Even when her tail is between her legs it is wagging.  That shows you how sweet she really is.  If you are looking for a precious little lady to add to your family and you have the patience to help a little one in need, then please consider Miss Summer.  You will make a huge difference in her life and you won't be sorry.  Summer is spayed, current on all her shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  She also now has pearly white teeth as she has had a dental.  To be considered for Summer's forever family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Summer is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)April 22, 2024, 1:56 pm

Story
Rodney is a very sweet but frustrated senior guy!  In fact he is looking for a senior guy to be his last best friend forever in this world.  Rodney is a 9 year old 15 pound Chi mix that has a little attitude that is born from total frustration with the humans in his past life.   He came from a very dysfunctional home where dogs were running everywhere.  He was one of the “victims” of the human insanity.  What we want for Rodney is a quiet, senior home with a lap and very little demanded of him.  He will be a great dog if you just leave him to unfold and unravel from the chaos he has experienced for far too long.  We know this guy will love you forever and sometimes he will be a little snappy because he has been bounced around.  The shelter he is in is obviously not fun and not nice. This boy is needing a good home that is steady and loving and patient with him.  There will be some time needed for him to heal his heart and learn to trust.  He deserves some love and forgiveness if he is not perfect. This boy is about 15 pounds and looking for just some small little corner to call his own.   Please email us to help Rodney at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 22, 2024, 1:56 pm

Story
If you have questions about Santiago, please get in touch with tsntignor@hotmail.com Santiago is a sweet, affectionate and chill little guy. He most enjoys the company of dogs ...oh and treats! He also enjoys playing with toys. He has done well in his crate when his foster family leaves the house. He still has so much to learn but he's on the path to becoming his best, little doggie self. Santiago is still learning the world isn't a scary place. He's hoping for an adopter with another friendly dog or two, with a fenced yard (no apartments for this guy), and a huge place in their heart for him. Santiago was surrendered from a commercial breeder. He was no longer wanted, and had no place to go. He deserved better, so we opened our doors and hearts earlier this month to change that for him. He is an adorable, special little dog who has endured quite a lot on his way to the safety of Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation. He is looking for a family with abundant patience, love, and an understanding of his needs to help him be a wonderful companion - and your best friend forever.

Story
Meet Barbie, the charming almost 2-year-old Chihuahua/Pug mix with a quirky personality and a heart full of love. She was rescued from a local shelter where it's apparent she had a rough start to life where a human was not nice to her as she sometimes gets startled by quick movements. Barbie's spirit shines brightly as she embraces each day with enthusiasm and resilience. Weighing in at 20lbs, Barbie adores playtime and craves attention. Beware though, if you're not giving her the attention she deserves, Barbie isn't shy about reminding you with a playful nip on the butt! We are working on that and she is doing better as long as she has toys to distract her! She's looking for a patient and understanding family who can provide her with the love and security she deserves, promising endless laughs and unconditional love in return. She does great with dogs of all sizes. Barbie's adoption fee is $195 local or $395 out of state and includes current shots, microchip, spay, and current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. An adoption application and contract are required. If you have any questions, please email us at sgdrsa@outlook.com. If you are interested in adopting Barbie please complete the adoption application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SGDR/Dog

Story
Laney has been a huge part of my life for more than ten years. She has been a best friend to me. She is cuddly, sweet and loving. I am a new mom to 10 month old baby and I’ve come to the sad realization I just can’t give Laney what she needs anymore while I’m learning to be a mom. I want Laney to experience the life she’s accustomed to. Long walks, sleeping in the bedroom, yummy snacks. She gets along with the new baby but she can no longer sleep in our bedroom anymore which makes me so sad. I’ve loved Laney for 11 years and she has brought me so much joy. I’m looking for a family that is happy to take in a spunky side kick. I want her later years of life to be comfortable and pleasant. I am doing my best but my husband is allergic so she doesn’t have full access around the house like she is used to and certain areas are off limits bc of the baby.

She is looking for a loving, quiet, and nurturing home to live out their twilight years. She is apprehensive at first and when frightened she may nip as a defensive mechanism due to her very limited sight (bilateral cataracts) and limited hearing, but once acclimated to her new surroundings and trusts you she is 100% loving lap dog. She will approach for attention and is very affectionate after an initial "breaking in" period. She will need an all adult household, no steps unless gated so she doesn't fall down them. Believe it or not, Penny does walk on leash okay, but is low energy and would be totally fine with quick access to a fenced backyard or a pee pad so she doesn't have to go out in the cold big world where she can't see danger lurking.  She is well trained to the pee pads. She sleeps in a dog bed near her people, and her favorite is to be abe to get under a nice soft blanket to keep her warm. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life.
