This special little one year old chihuahua is called Magic Maude.  And especially sensitive little girl, that somehow got just a little too round and is on a dedicated exercise in nutrition program to drop some weight.  Currently, she is eighteen pounds and we field that she would be best to be in the ten to twelve pound range as a goal.  She originally was in a chaotic home that animal control had to step in and take away 112 chihuahuas that we're living in the home.  An unfathomable amount of dogs that were not altered, but yet healthy.  When mod came to our rescue and was put in a foster home. She lay there in her crate for days very depressed and emotionally unresponsive.  She barely moved from the one spot she lay in.   Eventually, after almost two weeks, she perked up with the company of few other chihuahuas coming to join her in her large crate.  Soon she was going on walks with the foster. Mom and seemed to enjoy the freedom of being outside, taking in all the new sights and sounds of the neighborhood.  We know she had never been leash walked due to the overcrowding at her original home.  This girl is spayed and healthy and ready to start all over again. She wants love and we promised her a great family who will love her and take her for walks and treat her like the Magic Maude that she is.  She is currently in Nashville, Tennessee, and can be transported to the northeast region as well. Sadly, he ended up in a high-risk shelter and on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, the rescue team stepped in just in time, giving him a second chance at life. While having heartworm treatment in a clinic, Mallow moved into his foster home in July 2024. Now, he’s ready to find his forever family! • Personality: Calm, Sweet, Shy Mallow needs a little time and space to feel comfortable, but once he does, he’ll open up beautifully. It may take patience, but winning his heart will be one of the most rewarding experiences ever! He is such a cuddle bug! • Affinity with -Cats: Not interested in cats on walks -Dogs: a huge dog-lover! Very friendly with other dogs regardless of size. He would adjust better in a home with another dog! -Adults/Kids: Good with adults. / Not a fan of kids - he would be the best fit in a home without children. • Housetrained: Fully housebroken, using pee pads indoors and going potty outdoors both. • Walking Manner: Very good on a leash! Wants to keep walks short. • Shedding: 5-6 • Food Allergies: No • Car Rides: Good • Barker or Quiet: Barks a little bit when hearing the loud noise from outside. • Separation Anxiety: He whimpers a little right after his foster family leaves home, but calms down soon. • Bathing/Brushing: Very good. • Likes & Dislikes: Loves treats, doggy friends, and cuddles! / Not a big fan of young kids • Health: Completed heartworm treatment in late 2024 and was cleared of infection by April 2025. Had a few teeth extracted this October due to root damage, but it doesn’t affect his ability to chew. Regular and thorough tooth brushing is essential. Otherwise, he’s a healthy boy!

Lil Mama rarely barks either inside or outside and has taken quickly to crate training. House training is still a work in progress, but she mostly knows when to go outside and is a fast learner.   Sweet, Gentle, & Emotional   My name is Harrison, and I’m a 7-month-old Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix hoping to find the forever family who can give me the life my heart is ready for. I’m a petite 14 pounds now and will probably end up around 16 pounds as an adult—just the right size to hold close.   I was adopted as a tiny puppy by an elderly woman and her adult daughter who loved me with their whole hearts. But life has changed in ways none of us expected, and they can no longer keep up with my needs. They’ve cared for me the best they could, but walks, training, and outdoor potty routines became too difficult. I’ve been using pee pads inside simply because they had no other option.   They made the brave, loving decision to ask Critter Cavalry Rescue for help, and now I’m hoping for a home with people who are active, gentle, and ready to help me learn. I’m still young and eager—ready for walks, playtime, backyard exploring, and adventures. We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.   Cinnamon is Looking For:  His forever home. No 12-year-old should end up in the shelter but sometimes life happens. He's just such a happy, loving boy with plenty of pep in his step. And he's eager to bestow all that love upon his new humans. And loyal companionship - he's up for those sniffy walks and all the adventures that come with being a well-loved pet! (He also wants daily brushing and regular professional grooming - those Pom coats can mat, and mats hurt!)   What do you say?
