BB is a smaller mix who is absolutely adorable! He weighs around 20lbs and is 9-11-months-old. He is great with other dogs and is on the calmer side. He is going to stay small. He came into al local shelter with a BB stuck in his ear, hence the name. He's still as sweet as can be!Visit us at the Gainesville Petsmart on Archer Rd Saturdays 11 am to 5 pm and Sundays Noon to 5 pm. Story
Hi. My name is Clayton. That hasn’t always been my name, but I think it is kind of cool. I am a little guy, under 7 lbs and around 12 years old. Everyone thinks I may be a Chorkie (chihuahua and yorkie mix) but for sure I am just a cutie patootie. Just the right size to curl up in your lap without making your legs go to sleep. I curl up like a little ball. This is my story. I was at a home with Hoomans who I don’t think really liked little doggies. I had a little girl with me too. I heard the other day she has already found her new home. We were in a little cage and our hoomans just went away and left us. We cried and cried but they did not come back. We were very scared and very hungry. Then another person came and found us and took us to a place called a shelter. We got to stay in a nice lady’s office. They cleaned us up and got rid of all the bugs that kept biting us. I think they were called fleas. I had chewed myself up because I was so itchy from them. We didn’t stay at the shelter very long. We got picked up and taken on a ride to a place with a nice big yard to run in and soft beds and good food. I really liked it there. I got a bath and the nice lady cut off all my icky hair and mats. I felt so much better. Then I took another ride and ended up at a doctor’s office. They took out all of those teeth which hurt so bad, and I only have 3 teeth now in my entire mouth. They also took some other parts off which is OK with me. I got shots and a microchip, Ouch! My left eye has a cataract but my right one is just fine, and I see really good out of it. Another nice lady picked me up, I met a lot of nice ladies, and told me her name was Mama Heidi. I really like her, but I wish she had more time to hold me. I tell her this all of the time, but she said she has to work and I guess I can understand that. But I have lots of friends there and a comfy bed and good food. And now I am ready to start looking for my forever home. I think I would like a home where I can have my mama or daddy home with me a lot. I would really like that. I am not picky about much but that is important to me. I want to be able to snuggle on a lap and hopefully get to sleep in the big bed curled up. My hair is still growing back in, but I will need to get my hair cut sometimes. I am still learning all about pottying outside but if you are patient with me, I will learn fast what your rules are. ***I do require a family who is retired or works from home so I have someone home with me a lot.*** My adoption fee is $250. SOCKS adopts to families in Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama, and southeastern Mississippi. If you are out of the state of Florida, you would need to travel to Florida to complete your adoption. Please note that we do check vet references and your current pets must be up to date on vaccinations and heartworm testing. Please be able to provide proof of purchase of heartworm prevention. All dogs and cats in your home must be spayed or neutered. We will not set up a meet and greet until your application has been received, reviewed, and approved. Adoptions are not done on a first come first served basis. We will accept applications and then screen all and choose the best match. Only approved applicants will be contacted. ************************************** To apply to adopt me, go to this website: https://www.saveourcockerspaniels.org/foster-adoption-application **************************************

Story
BJ is an owner surrender who came in with his mom, Peaches. We had been contacted by a neighbor who stated that the dogs were not being cared for properly and that the older owner was willing to surrender them. Bj is extremely fearful and undersocialized. He literally shakes if someone looks at him or speaks to him. Because of his fear, he can also be snippy and will growl in "self defense ". BJ would not do well in a home with children. He seems to do OK with other dogs but could be reactive if scared so he will need a calm, easy going canine companion or be the only pet. He would probably do ok with cats since they would probably ignore him. Its difficult to say how he would be only because he hides a lot and freezes in fear. Getting an accurate read on his personality is difficult because of his fear. We do think that BJ wants attention but he just doesn't know how to go about handling interaction and can't seem to get comfortable and confident enough to seek it out. We are working with him to build trust and bring him out of his shell. We absolutely believe that this is do-able and will just take some time. Having him neutered will help, also and take that edge off. BJ will just need a patient, understanding, and preferably a dog experienced home who has dealt with dogs with similar social "blocks" He is still quite young at around 3 years of age so he has lots of good years left in him and finding a home where he feels safe and secure will be what he needs to live that life to the fullest because living in fear is just not living. He does appear to possibly be housebroken, although we never guarantee this. He also seems to be crate trained. We believe that BJ will make a wonderful companion once he conquers his fears and will be a dog who wants attention and love from his people. BJ saw the vet on 9/6/23. He appears to be in great health and no issues were noted on his exam. She tested negative for heartworms positive for hookworms on his fecal. We treated him with Drontal for the hookworms. He weighed 17 pounds as of 9/6/23. If interested in giving BJ his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). BJ's adoption fee will be $200 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for BJ based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.

Story
Billy was surrendered to the rescue with 5 other dogs, who are also listed. His owner was having health issues and was elderly. He was not able to care for the dogs properly any longer and wanted them to have better lives with someone who could. Billy and the other dogs were pretty much confined to one room and really only saw the older gentleman. They are friendly once they feel comfortable but can be skittish and nippy initially with new people. Billy is fearful and undersocialized initially but he is young and comes around once he feels safe and comfortable. Billy has shown a tendency to be nippy initially and for this reason, it is best if he goes to a adult only home, which is what he is used to or a home with older children who would be able to give him his space until he became comfortable. Billy, we were told, is a chihuahua mix and we think he is most likely a chiweenie(chihuahua/dachshund mix) and is about 1 year old. He has done well with other dogs and we feel like he would also be fine in a home with cats. Billy just wants to live a spoiled dogs life where he can soak up someone's love and attention and he deserves that. Billy saw the vet on 2/21/24. He is a bit of a mess but all is easily treatable. He did test negative for heartworms. He has been started on Simparica Trio for monthly heartworm prevention/flea control. He did test positive for hookworms and whipworms so we treated him with Drontal for the hooks and whips. Skin and hairloss issues as well as earmites were found on his exam so he was given a Convenia injection for the skin/hairloss and has started the Simparica Trio which will treat the earmites and fleas, which, most likely, caused the skin issues. Billy also came with a minor cleft palate that is not affecting him in any way and only adds to his unique charm and cuteness. Billy weighed 14.7 pounds as of 2/21/24. If interested in giving Billy his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Story
Scrappy was found as a stray and when noone claimed him, he was brought to a colleague's store a few days before she closed it up for good. She had asked us to take Scrappy at that time but we did not have room (until recently) to bring him to our house so she fostered him until we could. Scrappy is thought to be a chihuahua/dachshund mix and approx 9 months old. While he was being fostered, we learned a few things about him. He is young so he has a lot of energy and would do best in a home with kids, other dogs or a more active lifestyle. Scrappy walks on a leash and gets along with kids and other dogs, although he prefers females and may try to dominate other males, thinking he is the "big man on campus". This may subside since he has recently been neutered by us but we all know a lot of little dogs think they are just big dogs in small packages. Scrappy does OK with cats although he does like to chase them. We were told he doesn't look to hurt them but the chase is more of a playful behavior. Of course, many cats may not be amused so use your best judgment if you have cats in your home as to whether they would tolerate a playful young dog's antics. Scrappy loves attention and loves being close to his people. Cuddling is a favorite past time. He may just be a velcro type dog who lives and breathes his person (but without the separation anxiety). Scrappy is just a happy, friendly boy who wants his second chance. He should do well in most home environments and will be a wonderful companion. Scrappy saw the vet on 4/3/24. He had no issues on his exam. He did test positive for heartworms. He has been started on Simparica Trio for monthly heartworm treatment/prevention/flea control. He will need to be given a regular monthly heartworm pill to treat the heartworms. This is the slow kill method and it can take months before getting a negative result however, we have successfully treated many heartworm positive dogs using this method and it does not require anything extra from the owner as you would be giving a heartworm pill for prevention anyways. It is cost effective for all and there are generally no problems and no special care required for the dog while undergoing the treatment. Unfortunately, we see heartworms in our rescue dogs more often than we would like due to negligence from their former owners. Luckily, its quite easy and relatively cheap to treat these days so please do not be deterred from adoption for this reason. He did also test positive for hookworms so we treated him with Drontal for the hooks. Scrappy weighed 14. 2 pounds as of 4/3/24. If interested in giving Scrappy his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number).
