Story
Hi! I’m Jenkins, a 13yearold, 4lb Chihuahua with a tiny body, a lower rubber jaw and a heart that’s somehow even bigger than all of that. I follow my favorite human like a devoted shadow and make sure they always know how much I adore them. I’m expressive, affectionate and happiest when I’m tucked under an arm, riding along in a little pouch, purse or curled up in a cozy spot nearby.
Favorite Things: Jenkins is a softsouled little dog who cherishes calm companionship. He enjoys warm laps, quiet affection and the simple comfort of being with someone he trusts. He also appreciates peaceful supervised time outdoors where he can sniff around and take in the world at his own relaxed pace. Mealtime is also among his favorite activities. He will happily watch as his yummies are prepared.
Training and Manners: Jenkins is housetrained when taken out regularly and does well on a predictable routine. He sleeps soundly all night in his dog bed and settles easily once he knows his person is close. He tolerates car rides and is working on improving his leash skills, taking each outing at a steady, manageable pace. His sweet nature and eagerness to please make him a lovely companion for someone who enjoys a calm, steady presence.
Health and Care: Jenkins is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Because he has a soft, rubber jaw an no teeth he’ll need soft food only for the rest of his life which he happily enjoys. His grooming needs are minimal and can be handled at home with occasional baths, nail trims and ear cleaning. He handled bathing beautifully in his foster home and is easy to care for.
Other Animals: Jenkins enjoys the company of small, laidback dogs who match his mellow energy. He hasn’t been tested with cats, but his easygoing demeanor suggests he would adjust well with slow introductions.
Children: Because of his tiny stature a child free home is preferred. He could easily slip out unnoticed through a door left open. Teens + who understand how to interact respectfully with a tiny senior dog would also likely be a comfortable match for him.
Ideal Home: Jenkins forms deep bonds and prefers not to be left alone for long stretches as he’ll share his worries with a little vocal protest. A Chihuahuasavvy adopter who understands these tiny, expressive seniors would be perfect for him. He’ll thrive in a singlefamily home where his people are around often and where he has safe, easy access to outdoor potty breaks. Because he’s so portable and loves being close, he’s the kind of dog who’s happiest tagging along on errands in a soft carrier, pouch or purse.
Overall: Jenkins is an affectionate senior who embodies everything people love about tiny Chihuahuas. He may be small but his devotion is enormous and he brings warmth and sweetness to every day. With a patient, loving adopter who understands his sensitive nature, Jenkins will blossom into a loyal, heartmelting companion.
If you think Jenkins could be the little shadow and loyal friend you’ve been looking for, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to submit an adoption application. If it looks like a great match, his foster family will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $175.
