Lincoln is a gentle Chihuahua mix with a shy heart and a loving soul. He came to us from a hoarding case involving more than 30 dogs, so much of the world is still very new to him. Because of his past, Lincoln can be scared and reserved at first, especially around unfamiliar people or situations. What Lincoln needs most is patience, kindness, and the chance to build trust at his own pace. Once he begins to feel safe, his sweet personality starts to come through and he becomes more comfortable being close to the people around him. He is not a dog who will immediately run into your arms, but watching him slowly open up is incredibly rewarding. Lincoln also does well with other friendly dogs and may even benefit from having a confident canine companion who can help show him that people, homes, and everyday life can be safe. He would do best in a calm, understanding home with someone willing to give him the time and reassurance he deserves. After everything Lincoln has experienced, he is ready to learn what it feels like to be more than one of 30 dogs. He is ready to be someone’s family.

Nimbus is a beautiful female Chihuahua with a gentle spirit, a sweet personality, and a story that deserves a much happier ending. She was found living on the streets, and after coming into our care, we learned that she has Cushing’s disease. Cushing’s disease is a condition in dogs where the body produces too much cortisol, a hormone that helps regulate stress and many important body functions. In dogs, it can cause symptoms such as increased thirst and urination, increased appetite, panting, thinning hair, skin changes, muscle weakness, and the characteristic rounded or “pot-bellied” appearance. Nimbus is currently receiving the medical care and treatment she needs, and with proper management and veterinary monitoring, many dogs with Cushing’s can continue to enjoy a good quality of life. Despite everything she has been through, Nimbus remains incredibly loving and affectionate. She enjoys being close to her people, soaking up attention, and simply feeling safe. She has a calm, tender presence and the kind of personality that makes you want to protect her and remind her every day that she is finally loved. Nimbus is looking for a family who will see beyond her diagnosis and give her the stability, care, and companionship she has always deserved. After surviving life on the streets, she is ready for something very simple: a soft bed, a loving home, and a person who will never let her feel forgotten again.
