Chipper comes to us as a courtesy listing. He is an 11-year-old Chi mix. Chipper lived in a very loving home until his owner passed away in 2024. He went to live with his owner's brother after his owner passed. The brother hasn't been able to spend much time with him and has decided he can no longer care for him, so Chipper is looking for a new home. He's lively, precious, and loves to have his belly rubbed. He is housebroken. Chipper is up-to-date on vaccines and is heartworm negative. Maggie is a 5-6 year old cute Chihuahua who was originally adopted by a very nice, very good supporter of our rescue group from a shelter (not us).  One of their current dogs is quite elderly and is losing her sight.  The elderly dog began accidently bumping into Maggie and this would startle her and she was not sure what was going on and it began creating a conflict in their home.  They felt is best to rehome her but did not want anything to happen to her (absolustely did not want to return her to the kill shelter) and asked for our help and we certainly agreed to take her in.  They have loved her very much and in other circumstances would kept her -they have taken great care of her since they took her in.  Maggie needed vet work and some socialization and this couple did all lof this and more.  Like most chi's, she believes herself to be a "big dog"- most Chi owners will tell you that is typical of the breed.  If she is adopted to a home with other dogs, she needs to be fed seperately and prefers to be the lead dog.  She is good with people and teenage children would be fine.  We do not know about cats.  She likes to ride in a car, is a good lap dog enjoys going for walks and knows some basic commands -she always knows how to use a dog door.  Maggie is up to date with shots, spayed, heartworm negative/on prevention and housebroken.  For adoption, please visit our website at www.myhstc.org and complete an adoption application. About Me Hi there! I’m a sweet, easygoing girl who has discovered that life is pretty wonderful when you have a cozy couch, a loving human, and a quiet place to call home. I’m happy and laid-back, with a low-to-moderate energy level. My favorite activity? Lounging on the couch beside my person. I don’t need constant attention—I’m perfectly content simply being near you. I’m affectionate on my terms, and once we get to know each other, I’ll happily enjoy your company. When visitors arrive, I’ll give them a quick sniff and then go right back to doing my own thing. I’m also wonderful when left alone and do great free-roaming in the house. I’m house-trained, walk beautifully on a leash, and do well on short car rides. I’ve been around small dogs and get along wonderfully with them. I especially like being near two tiny puppies in my foster home and enjoy watching over them. I haven’t been around children yet, so that’s something my future family will need to consider. I’m pretty much the perfect dog, with just one little quirk—I don’t enjoy being picked up. But honestly, I don’t think that’s too much to ask. I’d much rather keep my paws on the ground and have you sit beside me anyway! What I’m Looking For I’m looking for a family who appreciates a calm, gentle companion and understands that love doesn’t always have to mean being in your lap. If your idea of a perfect evening is relaxing on the couch with a sweet dog by your side, we might be a perfect match. I don’t need a complicated life. I just need someone who will give me a comfortable home, respect my boundaries, and let me be the wonderful, easygoing girl that I am. ❤️
