Meet Bojangles Bojangles is a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix with the sweetest, gentlest personality. He’s a small guy with a big heart who loves to cuddle on the couch just as much as he enjoys a nice walk — truly the best of both worlds. He’s potty trained, walks great on a leash and gets along well with other dogs. He also peacefully minds his business around cats. Bojangles can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once he warms up he becomes incredibly affectionate and loving. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who loves cuddles, Bojangles might be your perfect match. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Meet Cheesecake (aka Benny!) Cheesecake is a tiny Chihuahua / Mini Dachshund / mystery mix with the biggest puppy heart you’ve ever met. He loves to play, loves to snuggle, and loves making friends - dogs and cats alike! If there’s a lap available, he’s happy. If there’s a toy nearby, he’s thrilled. Cheesecake does have a special medical story. His left lung lobes have collapsed, and his right lung lobes have expanded to compensate. He has been thoroughly evaluated by multiple veterinarians, including an internal medicine specialist, and at this time he does not require treatment. Right now, his condition hardly slows him down - he truly believes the world is his to explore, even if he’s doing it with only one working side of lungs! That said, his forever family must be prepared for what his future could look like. While he does not currently, and may never need medical intervention, there's still a possibility he could require more extensive care down the road. Day to day, Cheesecake acts like the happy, excitable, cuddly puppy he is - but he does need some thoughtful supervision. His energy must be managed carefully: • Playtime should include breaks • Walks shouldn’t be too long • Hot weather and extended heat exposure must be avoided • Overexertion can cause breathing difficulty He doesn’t know he’s medically special - and we love that about him! He just needs a family who does know, and who will protect him accordingly.
