Information: Taco was brought to the shelter after his owner was arrested. They never came to pick him up so now he is looking for a new home. He is a very sweet boy who can be a little on shy and nervous side here at the shelter. Please go slow with him and allow him to come to you. Taco hardly has any teeth, however, that does not stop him from eating hard food. Giving him some canned food daily will just help to ensure that he is getting enough and doesn't start losing weight. He also has a grade 3 heart murmur. A Grade 3 heart murmur in a senior dog is a medium-loud abnormal swishing or whooshing sound heard with a stethoscope (typically as loud as or louder than the normal heart sounds). What a Grade 3 Murmur Means• • Not Instant Failure: A Grade 3 murmur means there is turbulent blood flow—often caused by a leaky heart valve in older small dogs (like degenerative mitral valve disease)—but it does not automatically mean your dog is in heart failure. • Quality of Life: Many dogs with a Grade 3 murmur continue to eat, play, and act completely normal. How is a murmur treated? The murmur itself is not treated. The underlying cause of the murmur may or may not be treated - this depends on the cause, severity, and other circumstances (age, well-being of the pet, cost of treatment etc). Your veterinarian is best suited to discuss specific treatment options with you. The shelter provides a 5-day health guarantee for adopted animals. This includes health conditions not present or known about by the shelter at the of adoption, which adopter becomes aware of within 5 days. Injuries or accidents that occur at the adopter's home are not covered. The shelter is not responsible for incurred costs from local veterinarians due to non-compliance. ALL adoptions are final! Animals can be returned to the shelter for any reason, however, there are NO refunds or exchanges.

Roscoe is an owner surrender who was brought to the shelter on 10/15/26. He is ~8 years old, neutered, and has been given DHPP, flea/tick/heartworm/parasite treatments. He is awaiting being vet checked, rabies vaccination, and heartworm tested. This far he seems to be very friendly and does well with other dogs. Unsure how he does with children or cats at this time.All animals must be neutered/spayed prior to finalization of adoption. All animals will be microchipped and have the appropriate vaccinations for the age of the animal. All animals will be treated for worms and flea/tick prevention.

Meet Athena & Winter! 🐾❤️ Athena and Winter are two approximately 3-year-old Chihuahua mixes who are ready to leave their past behind and find the loving homes they deserve! These sweet little girls came into our care through Animal Control after being removed from a hoarding situation. Unfortunately, their general care had been somewhat neglected, but after spending the last couple of weeks with us, they’re starting to get back on their feet, and we’re excited to begin looking for their forever homes! Both Athena and Winter are timid-natured dogs who will need a little extra patience and understanding as they adjust to new people and environments. They aren’t necessarily going to be the kind of dogs who immediately run up to greet you, but don’t let their initial shyness fool you! Once they’ve had the opportunity to get comfortable and build some trust, they’re both very sweet, friendly, and affectionate little companions. Because of their background, we really don’t know what kind of household manners or previous training they may have. We would encourage potential adopters to anticipate some house training and general adjustment as they settle into a home environment. The good news is that both girls seem to be doing well using potty pads here at the shelter, so that may be a helpful starting point depending on your household routine! More than anything, Athena and Winter need families who understand that building trust doesn’t happen overnight. They deserve the opportunity to explore their new surroundings, establish a routine, and come out of their shells at their own pace without feeling pressured or overwhelmed. These girls haven’t necessarily had the easiest start in life, but that doesn’t mean their futures can’t be wonderful! With a little patience, consistency, and plenty of love, we think both Athena and Winter have the potential to blossom into delightful little companions.
