Story
Posted December 2025 Paul is a 2 yr old terrier mix weighing in at 23 lbs. He appears to be a terrier/Chihuahua/spaniel mix, but whatever his blend may be, he is cute and gentle, although still finding his confidence in the world. He and his siblings were cruelly abandoned by their owners...they moved and left them to fend for themselves (outdoors) with absolutely no regard for their well-being. We wish that was unusual in some of the southern areas where we rescue from ; 0 ( Paul is a little anxious around new dogs at first, but once he warms up, he is a great playmate. He loves playing with his sibling Mary and fellow foster friends...think "zoomies" and shenanigans! He does share a foster home with cats, and he will bark at his kitty friends if they startle him or give chase. He won’t hurt them at all but they don’t always love his idea of fun. Paul can be shy with new people at first but he can be won over with treats, gentle affection and sharing a walk or a romp outside. Once he trusts you he becomes a snuggle buddy! You'll know when Paul trusts you and bonds with you when he begins "smiling" ever so slightly. He greets his canine buddies in the same way and he'll bestow kisses upon you! Paul can be a couch potato while enjoying cuddles and attention, but also is happy to oblige with a busy active game. He would be a wonderful companion for a single person, couple or retirees. We think he’d be too lonely without another playful dog in his home so he is looking for a fun sibling in his new home This sweet pup could also join a family with with calm-natured, mature children, so our recommendation would be a family who has taught their kiddos to respect animals and be gentle with newcomers. Rambunctious youngsters would overwhelm Paul. He is such a sweet-natured guy in spite of being failed by humans. He still wants to forge bonds and be part of a family. He is so worth the gentle and gradual introduction period that he needs because you will be rewareded with a loving companion ; 0 ) If you have interest in meeting Paul or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application. Please note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Story
All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step. Hi, I’m Dove — a 2-year-old chihuahua mix, professional cuddler, part-time diva, and full-time velcro dog. &#226&#156&#168 Let’s get this out of the way: I love my people and form strong bonds. Once I decide you’re my person, I’ll happily follow you everywhere, curl up in your lap, and stare lovingly into your soul. That’s just who I am. When I first arrived at my foster home, I was a little unsure of my foster dad and needed some time to feel comfortable. But slow and steady wins the race — after about a week, I started warming up, and now I’m learning that new people (men included!) can be pretty great once I get to know them. I do best with gentle introductions and a little patience while I build trust.  I’m a social butterfly with humans (especially kids), but when it comes to dogs… um… let’s just say I have opinions. I currently live with three dogs of all shapes and sizes, and I make sure every new dog knows I’m the boss. Yes, I show my teeth. Yes, I growl. Yes, there may be a tiny snap. But don’t worry — I’m all bark at the beginning. Because guess what? After a few days, I start to soften. And after a week? I’m actually playing with them! I guess you could say I play hard to get and make other dogs work for my affection. A lady has standards, okay?  I’d absolutely thrive as an only dog since humans are my true love, but sharing a home with other dogs isn’t a dealbreaker — I just need a little time to remind them who runs the show. I am housebroken, but I have a confession… I do not appreciate the cold, snowy New Hampshire weather. I’m a little girl with little legs, and I don’t do blizzards. So sometimes, to avoid going outside, I… may do my business indoors. Look, I’m delicate!  If you’re looking for a loyal, snuggly, dramatic, tiny queen who will adore you, then I’m your girl. I’ve got a big personality in a tiny package, and my heart is just waiting for my forever home.    All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped. The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only. December 21, 2025, 10:01 am

Story
Bear is an 18-month-old Chihuahua/scruffy terrier mix weighing just 9 pounds, but don’t let his size fool you — this little guy has a huge personality and an endless supply of joy. Playful, confident, and endlessly entertaining, Bear is a natural goofball who lives to make people laugh and dogs his best friends. Recently, Bear became a proud dog dad to six beautiful puppies born around October 10th. He came from a home that was overwhelmed with dogs and puppies, where the family simply didn’t have the resources to spay or neuter the adults. Despite the chaos of his early life, Bear has emerged happy, resilient, and full of love. One thing is very clear — Bear thrives when he has canine companionship. Having grown up surrounded by other dogs, he truly needs at least one young, active dog in his forever home to feel secure and content. He also benefits from humans who enjoy long, brisk walks, playtime, and interactive fun. Squeaky toys and rope toys are his absolute favorites. Bear is still learning the basics of pet life, but he’s making wonderful progress. He sleeps through the night in his crate and chooses it as his safe space during the day. He’s new to leash walking but is catching on quickly with daily practice, and his house-training is coming along nicely. Having just been neutered, Bear wears a belly band indoors while he learns not to mark — and he handles it like a champ. Bear is fantastic with other dogs and does well with cats, too. With his adorable wiry coat, bright eyes, and sharp mind, he’s eager to learn and will quickly pick up any manners or training his new family wants to teach. Despite a rough start, Bear’s happiness was never dimmed — in fact, it shines brighter each day in his calm, loving foster home. If you’re looking for a joyful little companion who will bring laughter, energy, and love into your life, Bear is ready to start fresh and be your loyal sidekick.   Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you’re interested in adopting Bear.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 14, 2025, 1:48 pm

Story
Meet Cheyenne — a delicate, dear-head Chihuahua with a heart as tender as her tiny 9-pound frame. At just three years old, she has already experienced more upheaval than any little dog should. She spent her life cherished by her mom, but when her owner became disabled and had to move in with friends, Cheyenne came along… only to be told she could no longer stay. It shattered her mom’s heart and left Cheyenne confused and frightened.   Cheyenne has lived a very sheltered, indoor life, and the changes of the past few months have left her understandably nervous. She needs time, patience, and a gentle hand to learn that her world can be safe again. Once she feels secure, she’ll quietly lean in, allow soft pets, and even offer a tiny kiss to show her trust.   This sweet girl isn’t demanding—she’s simply sensitive. She finds comfort in calm environments and absolutely needs another friendly dog in her new home. Having a canine companion gives her confidence and helps her settle. She loves cuddling with her dog friends, and in her foster home, her favorite cozy spot is tucked under a blanket where she feels warm and hidden.   Cheyenne is never aggressive or mean with other dogs, but energetic puppies are not her cup of tea—they’re a bit too lively for her peaceful spirit. What she truly wants is a patient, loving adopter who understands that trust is earned gently over time.   If you’re looking for a quiet, loyal little Chihuahua who will adore you once she knows she’s finally safe, Cheyenne may be your perfect match. With a secure, loving home, she will blossom into the devoted companion she’s meant to be.   Cheyenne is healthy, ready to go, and so deserving of her happily-ever-after.Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to meet this precious girl.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 14, 2025, 11:46 pm
