Petie was surrendered due to no fault of his own and has been slow to adjust to new places. Adopter will need to be patient with him for a bit until he gets adjusted. Dog Name: TalisaBreed: chihuahua Sex: fAge: 7 to 8Weight: 10 or less lbsMedical Needs: None, UTD on vaccines and spayed Housebroken: yes, as long as you walk her as soon as she starts searching for you or howling in her crate. Crate trained: yesGood in the car:  yesGood on a leash: yes  energy level; medNeed a fenced in yard: noDog Friendly: yesIf yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home? Yes, due to her anxiety while being alone it’s best that she has a buddy to keep her calm.Cat Friendly: yes Kid Friendly: yesIf yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Over 5 because she is little and older.  Special traits:Talisa is a confident little lady who trots along well on her leash exploring her surroundings. She will try very hard to communicate her feelings with you if she’s hungry, needs to potty or just wants attention. She will howl at you until her needs are met. She loves to be near her people but also enjoys basking in the sunshine on the porch and snoozing in her bed after a long walk. Talisa was part of a hoarding situation so it’s important that she has another dog in the house to help ease the anxiety when left alone. She’s also an escape artist and it’s recommended that you walk her or watch her like a hawk in your fenced in yard.  Foster location: Dover, Delaware  ##1951507##

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? YesCat Friendly? YesKid Friendly: YesIf yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Old enough to be gentle with him since he’s so tiny.  Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Davos started life out in a house with lots of dogs. He loves to be around other small dogs and to snuggle with them. He seems to be scared of large dogs. He is happy to sit with you for as long as you’d like. He has a friendly, happy personality. He has had no accidents in the house and will go to the door to go outside. He is inquisitive and likes to see what’s going on around him. He is a sweet little guy who would be a great addition to any family with small, friendly dogs.  Fosters Location: Smyrna Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app  ##1951499##

Story
Name: Amaya Age: 10 years young Breed: Chihuahua or Chiweenie Personality: Timid Amaya's Story: Amaya is a sassy gentle soul who found herself in a tough situation. She was abused and abandoned. We think at one point she was once a cherished family member, but sadly, her world was turned upside down. This trauma has caused her to be very scared. She can be very sweet after she gets to know you. She does have a typically chi personality. Amay is fearful in new situations. We pulled her sight unseen, we felt so bad for her little body caring around this giant mass. She was in so much pain for years. We need to find a owner that will understand that her life took an unexpected twist, that day she was found alone in the middle of the street. The mass turned out to be a hernia. She has had surgery to remove it. We need a special understanding home that will ensure that her golden years are filled with love, care, and happiness. She gets along well with dogs and cats. Can dance for food and treats. It's very cute. Her mass was not cancer and she has perfect blood work and ekg. She does have a few Personalities, one is sweet and the other stubord . She is the boss in her little head. lol She may be a bit shy at first, but her heart is as big as they come. Once she warms up to you, she will be your most loyal companion. Despite being 10 years old, Amaya has a surprising amount of energy. Age is just a number to Amaya!
