**Please scroll down and read the entire bio before emailing with questions. We will not respond to emails that ask questions already in the bio of the pet or generic questions of 'how old is it?', 'can I get more information?', 'oh it's so cute', etc. You must fill out an application in order to schedule an appointment. Here is a link to our online application https://almosthomenm.rescueivey.com/apply/adopt The application can also be found and downloaded from our main website https://almosthomenm.org/available-for-adoption   Once you have filled out an application please watch your emails to schedule an appointment. Please be aware we do not hold dogs until an appointment to meet them is scheduled.     Approximate DOB 11/4/2025 – about 4 lbs currently Yahtzee (blond smooth coat female), Chessy (very petite medium scruffy blond female), Jenga (very scruffy blond female), Checkers (Black and tan smooth coat male), Bingo (brown scruffy male), Topple (smooth coat blond male), and Trouble (black and tan scruffy male) were surrendered to a local shelter during the holidays. Unfortunately, the shelter couldn't find a foster for them and they were too small to adopt out so they reached out to us for help. We agreed and they all made there way to rescue and are now old enough to find their happily ever afters. These babies are very outgoing, sweet, and playful. We are completely guessing on their breed possibility as they all look soooo different-- possibly Dachshund, Chihuahua, Poodle, and/or Norfolk Terrier-- they have shorter legs, longer bodies, and some are quite a bit fuzzier whereas some have more of a smooth coat (more than likely we have multiple fathers in this litter).. It will be interesting to have DNA tests done on them.  Using a dog door during the day and a litter box with wood shaving at night. Adopter would need to make continue with house training though. These babies are very high energy and will need an active family/person to keep them busy. But oh my goodness they are all very playful and happy and love everyone they meet. This is a very sweet mellow boy.. Loves being held but also loves to run around and play. He's a very watchful baby who just prefers to sit in a lap whenever possible. Spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations - Fee $275 We do welcome out-of-state adoptions. Adopters would need to be able to come out to meet/adopt the pet.  Send an email to request the application or you can download it from the main site www.almosthomenm.org and email it to adopt@almosthomenm.org Dogs are seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved. If you have other dogs it is recommended you bring them out to the meeting but not required. If you are not ready to adopt (vacation/travel planned and don't want to put your new pet in boarding, in the middle of a move, etc) please wait to schedule an appointment until you are ready.  Steps for adoption: Read bio, email to request application or download it from the main website, fill it out completely and email it back, once approved you will receive an email asking you when you would like to come out to meet the pet, schedule an appointment, directions will be emailed or text to you. Adoption fees are cash only.   If you would like to help with rescue by providing monetary support for vetting, snacks, and toys for the dogs in our program while they wait for their happily ever afters we would truly appreciate it. Story
Hi, I’m Otis! I’m an easygoing guy with big soulful eyes, floppy ears, and a serious talent for cuddling. I love being close to my people without being needy, and I’m very polite about it. I’m fully house trained and crate trained, and I sleep through the night like a champ. People are my favorite—I’ll happily wander over for pets and attention. When it comes to other dogs, I’m politely curious and taking things at my own pace. I’m not a big fan of car rides or snowy weather (hard pass), but give me a cozy home and a soft spot to snuggle, and I’ll be one happy pup! Email acsoutreach@bernco.gov to meet me!

Story
You can call me Bruce, Bruce Wayne, or Batman. I’m a small guy who loves to play tug, fetch, and chase and to ride in cars (do you have a Batmobile??!) I like other dogs, especially if they’re bigger, but I really like people, except for Catwoman. Cats are bad news for me. I’ll want to hang out all day with my forever human because I’m all heart and chockablock with devotion. Look at how attentive I am in my picture! So, if you want a smaller, older gent but with the heart of a superhero, I’m the one for you!
